We are currently seeking an energetic, compassionate, and resident-focused Therapeutic Recreationist to join our dynamic care team here at Maple Park Lodge. The successful candidate will be committed to providing the highest standard of care for residents and to creating a positive and supportive workplace.

Recreation Therapist:

Casual positions available.

These are existing positions.

Pay Rate: $22.44-25.70 (as per collective agreement)

Responsibilities of the Recreation Therapist:

Plan, implement and evaluate both individual and group programs based on assessed needs and as assigned by the Supervisor.
Set up and clean activity area as necessary and transport residents to and from programs.
Monitor the behaviour and condition of residents during programs, and report any significant changes to the Supervisor and nursing staff as appropriate.
Maintain program and resident records according to department policy.
Work cooperatively with other departments to meet resident needs.
Must support MOHLTC standards, as well as the policies and procedures of the Home

Requirements of the Recreation Therapist:

Post-secondary diploma or degree in recreation and leisure studies, therapeutic recreation, or other related field from a community college or university (or be enrolled in and graduating in final semester).
Knowledge and experience in working with residents with Alzheimer’s and the aging process preferred.
GPA training & U-First Training, an asset.
Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills, as well as excellent documentation skills.
Experience with documenting in RAI/MDS and ActivityPro preferred.
Additional courses and in-services attended will be taken into consideration.
R/TRO designation a definite asset.
