JouleGrid is building the next generation of energy infrastructure, combining technical excellence with innovative engineering to deliver high-performance, low-carbon solutions across North America. We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join our multidisciplinary engineering team and play a key role in the design and delivery of mechanical systems for complex energy, industrial, and infrastructure projects. This role includes technical leadership, cross-disciplinary collaboration, and mentorship of junior team members.

What You’ll Contribute

Lead mechanical design delivery for multidisciplinary energy, industrial, and infrastructure projects from concept through construction
Provide technical leadership across the mechanical discipline, including design planning, workload coordination, resource allocation, and mentorship of engineers and technologists
Develop mechanical scopes, fee estimates, proposal content, and project specifications for medium to large-scale projects
Evaluate, select, specify, and engineer mechanical systems and components, producing and reviewing layouts, diagrams, BIM models, and construction documentation
Coordinate with internal teams, external consultants, contractors, and clients through design development, value engineering, constructability reviews, and cost analysis
Perform QA/QC reviews on project deliverables, verify work completed by others, and ensure compliance with codes, standards, and JouleGrid engineering practices
Contribute to the continuous improvement of internal design standards, workflows, and best practices
Manage multiple concurrent projects while maintaining alignment with scope, schedule, budget, and quality expectations

Technical Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and registration as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.)
Minimum 8 years of experience in mechanical system design within industrial, institutional, commercial, or energy-sector environments
Strong knowledge of applicable building codes, mechanical design practices, and energy-efficiency standards
Proficiency in mechanical systems, materials, construction methods, and industry standards
Experience producing and reviewing design drawings, specifications, and technical documentation across all project phases
Proficiency with engineering and design tools including Revit, AutoCAD, heat load calculation software, and digital collaboration platforms (e.g., Revizto)
Ability to review and verify work completed by others for technical accuracy and completeness
Ability to obtain Security Clearance where required for certain project types

Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills
Ability to collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary teams
