Full job description

We are currently seeking a Pharmacy Manager to lead the operations of a busy community pharmacy. The ideal candidate is a motivated, organized, and patient-focused pharmacist who is comfortable dispensing methadone and managing day-to-day pharmacy functions.

Job Summary
The Pharmacy Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the pharmacy department, ensuring the safe and effective delivery of pharmaceutical care to patients. This role involves managing pharmacy staff, maintaining compliance with regulatory standards, and fostering a patient-centered environment. The Pharmacy Manager will collaborate with healthcare professionals to optimize medication therapy and enhance patient outcomes.

Duties

Supervise pharmacy staff, including pharmacists and pharmacy technicians, ensuring efficient workflow and adherence to policies.
Oversee medication dispensing processes, ensuring accuracy in medication administration and patient safety.
Conduct regular audits of pharmacy operations to maintain compliance with state and federal regulations.
Provide clinical support in areas such as pediatrics and acute care, offering expertise in medication management.
Collaborate with healthcare teams to develop and implement treatment plans based on medical terminology and patient needs.
Educate patients on medication usage, potential side effects, and health management strategies.
Manage inventory levels of pharmaceuticals, ensuring availability while minimizing waste.
Stay current with advancements in pharmacotherapy and participate in continuing education opportunities.

Skills required

Licensed Pharmacist in good standing with the Ontario College of Pharmacists (OCP).
Previous experience in a managerial or leadership role in a community pharmacy is preferred.
Comfortable and experienced in dispensing methadone.
Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
