Job Description: Quality Control Manager

Company: JTL Integrated Machine Corp.

Location: Port Colborne, Ontario, Canada

Reports To: General Manager / President

Date: July 20, 2026

Summary:

JTL Integrated Machine Corp. is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Quality Control Manager to lead and enhance our quality management system within our precision machine shop. The Quality Control Manager will be responsible for ensuring that all manufactured parts and processes meet customer specifications, industry standards, and regulatory requirements. This role requires a strong understanding of quality methodologies, root cause analysis, continuous improvement, and leadership in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Quality Management System (QMS) Leadership:

* Continuously maintain and improve the company's Quality Management System (QMS), ensuring compliance with relevant ISO standards (e.g., ISO 9001) and customer-specific requirements.

* Conduct internal audits of the QMS to ensure adherence to established procedures and identify areas for improvement.

* Manage and facilitate external QMS audits (e.g., ISO certification audits, customer audits).

Quality Planning and Control:

* Knowledge of laser trackers (Faro + Leica), dimensional inspection of large steel fabrications, and Polyworks’ software suite.

* Establish, implement, and maintain quality control procedures and documentation for all stages of production, from raw material receipt to final product shipment.

* Develop and review Quality Plans, Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), and other quality documentation as required by projects and customers.

* Oversee the management of non-conforming products, including identification, segregation, disposition, and rework/repair processes.

* Manage and maintain the calibration program for all inspection and testing equipment.

Inspection and Metrology Oversight:

* Oversee and provide guidance to the inspection team, ensuring accurate and precise measurement of machined components.

* Provide expert knowledge in the use of various precision measuring instruments (e.g., micrometers, calipers, gauges, CMMs, optical comparators, lasers).

* Develop and optimize inspection methods and tooling.

Root Cause Analysis and Corrective/Preventive Actions (CAPA):

* Lead and facilitate root cause analysis investigations for internal defects, customer complaints, and non-conformances.

* Implement and verify the effectiveness of corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).

* Track and report on CAPA effectiveness to management.

Customer and Supplier Quality:

* Act as the primary contact for customer quality inquiries, feedback, and non-conformance issues.

* Work closely with customers to resolve quality issues and build strong relationships.

* Develop and manage supplier quality processes, including supplier qualification, performance monitoring, and corrective action requests.

Continuous Improvement:

* Promote a culture of continuous improvement throughout the organization.

* Lead and participate in continuous improvement initiatives using methodologies such as Lean, Six Sigma, and 5S to optimize processes and reduce waste.

* Analyze quality data and metrics (e.g., scrap rates, rework, customer returns) to identify trends and drive improvements.

Documentation and Reporting:

* Maintain comprehensive quality records, including inspection reports, audit findings, CAPA records, and customer feedback.

* Prepare and present regular quality performance reports to senior management.

* Manage and control all quality-related documentation.

* Team Leadership and Development:

* Recruit, train, mentor, and supervise quality control personnel/inspectors.

* Foster a strong team environment focused on quality excellence.

Qualifications:

* Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality Management, or a related technical field, or equivalent experience.

* Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in quality control within a precision machining, manufacturing, or heavy industrial environment.

* Demonstrated experience in implementing and maintaining ISO 9001 certified Quality Management Systems.

* Strong understanding of machining processes (milling, turning, grinding, etc.) and their impact on part quality.

* Expert proficiency in blueprint reading, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).

* Advanced knowledge of precision measuring instruments and metrology, including CMM operation and programming (e.g., PC-DMIS, Calypso) is a significant asset.

* Proven experience with root cause analysis methodologies (e.g., 5 Whys, Fishbone diagrams) and CAPA systems.

* Experience with statistical process control (SPC) and other quality tools.

* Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

* Strong leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills (written and verbal).

* Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

* ASQ certifications (e.g., CQM/OE, CQA, CQT) are highly desirable.

* Familiarity with relevant Canadian quality standards and regulations.

Physical Requirements:

* Ability to work in a machine shop environment with exposure to noise, dust, and lubricants.

* Comfortable standing, walking, and moving around the shop floor.

* Good visual acuity for detailed inspection work.
