Delivery Truck Driver

About us: G.E. Silliker & Sons Limited (operating as Silliker Glass) is a third-generation, family-owned glass manufacturing and aluminum fabrication company headquartered in Borden-Carleton, Prince Edward Island. The company was founded in the early 1960s by G.E. (“Ed”) Silliker as a contracting business and, by 1965, had refined its focus to specialize in glass and storefront installations. In 1981, ownership transitioned to Ed’s sons, Ron and Stacy Silliker, and the company was incorporated as G.E. Silliker & Sons Limited. Following Ron’s retirement in 2014, the company is now owned by Stacy Silliker and his son, Matt Silliker, with Matt actively serving as Chief Executive Officer and majority shareholder. Silliker Glass employs nearly 100 people and operates as a multi-location manufacturer with more than 150,000 square feet of production facilities across Prince Edward Island, New Brunswick, and Nova Scotia. The company serves customers throughout Atlantic Canada and the New England states.

Job Title: Delivery Truck Driver

Location: 167 Industrial Drive, Borden-Carleton, PE C0B 1X0

Reporting to: Production Manager

Compensation package: $27/hr to $30/hr, Overtime starts at 44 hrs/week, Group Benefits (Life, AD&D, Health, Dental), Meal Allowances, 2% DPSP plan, Company cellphone provided, Corporate Credit card provided, Hotel accommodations provided

Roles and Responsibilities:
-Safely and efficiently operate automatic straight trucks and tractor-trailers to transport goods and materials to various destinations in Atlantic Canada, including Newfoundland (optional) and the State of Maine and New Hampshire (optional).

-Safely handle glass and rearrange racks with the shipping clerks as needed

-Be conscious of delicate product being delivered (Racks of Glass) and chose your routes and unloading methods accordingly
-Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle and forklift to ensure both are in good working condition
-Load and unload cargo using appropriate equipment, such as forklifts, ensuring proper handling and securing of the load
-Follow all traffic laws, regulations, and company policies while on the road
-Maintain accurate records of deliveries, mileage, and any incidents or accidents that occur during transportation

-Ensure delivery slips are signed by customers and appropriate copies left and returned with you back to the plant

-Always inquire about empty racks left with customers and return these with you as appropriate

-Communicate effectively with shipping manager, customers, and other team members to coordinate delivery schedules and resolve any issues that may arise

Qualifications:
-Valid Class 1 commercial driver’s license
-Proficiency in operating a forklift for loading and unloading racks of glass and aluminum preferred. Training to be provided

- Proficiency in maintaining Electronic Driver's Logs

-Knowledge of freight transportation regulations and procedures
-Strong attention to detail and excellent time management skills
-Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
-Excellent communication and customer service skills

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $27.00-$30.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 – 60 per week
