Full job description

Located in Manitoba’s Interlake Region, the Rural Municipality of St. Andrews stretches along the Red River as it flows north to Lake Winnipeg. Ideally situated near urban centers and just a short drive from lakeside resort communities, the RM offers both convenience and natural beauty. The Municipal Office is located approximately 30 minutes from Winnipeg and 10 minutes north of Selkirk, Manitoba. St. Andrews is a diverse community that includes agricultural lands, residential neighbourhoods, seasonal cottages along creeks and waterways, local businesses, and an industrial area surrounding the St. Andrews Airport.

Position Summary:

Under the direction of the Manager of Municipal Revenue and Assets, the Tax Clerk is responsible for administering municipal taxation and accounts receivable, while providing financial, clerical, and customer service support. The role ensures transactions are processed accurately and in compliance with legislation, policies, and procedures.

Key Qualifications and Skills:

The successful candidate will possess:

Certificate in Municipal Administration (CMMA)
Experience in municipal taxation, accounts receivable, bookkeeping, or related financial administration
Working knowledge of municipal legislation, taxation processes, and collection procedures
Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
Excellent customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to respond to inquiries in a professional and tactful manner
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience working with computerized financial and municipal software systems
Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and meet deadlines in a high-volume environment

Job Details: This is a full-time bargaining unit position based on a 35-hour work week, with an hourly wage ranging from $25.73 to $30.87, depending on qualifications and experience. Employees holding a CMMA designation will receive an additional $1.35 per hour. A comprehensive municipal benefits package is offered upon successful completion of the six-month probationary period. The position is located at the RM of St. Andrews office in Clandeboye, Manitoba.
