Full job description

Overview
We are seeking enthusiastic and customer-focused Café Team Members to join our dynamic team.

At Huckleberry Cakes and Coffee, we’re more than just a café — we’re a small, passionate team creating quality bakes and great coffee for our community. This is a hands-on, team-based environment where every team member contributes to all areas of the café.

If you’re someone who enjoys variety, takes pride in your work, and understands that no task is “not my job,” you’ll fit right in.

Responsibilities (Please read carefully)

Previous café experience required (applications without experience will not be considered)
Experience with espresso machines and specialty drinks
Prepare and serve a variety of food and beverages with attention to quality and presentation
Operate POS systems and accurately handle cash and card transactions
Provide exceptional customer service by greeting guests, taking orders, and addressing inquiries or concerns
Manage time effectively to serve customers promptly during busy periods
Assist with food handling, sanitation, and maintaining cleanliness of workstations and dining areas
Dishwashing, sweeping, mopping, and maintaining overall café cleanliness are part of the role
Ensure adherence to food safety standards and sanitation protocols at all times
Upsell menu items to enhance customer experience and support sales
Support team members in maintaining an organized and efficient workspace

This is a team-based role — responsibilities are shared across all team members and are not limited to one area (e.g., barista duties only).

Availability & Requirements:

Available to work Sundays
Flexible availability between 6:00 AM – 6:00 PM
Must have a valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle
Must be 18 years of age or older
Food Handler’s Certificate required before starting

Skills

Experience in food preparation, food service, or cashiering preferred; restaurant experience is an asset
Familiarity with POS systems
Strong time management skills and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
Excellent customer service and communication skills
Knowledge of food handling, sanitation, and safety standards
Basic math skills for cash handling and order accuracy
Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment
Kitchen or food industry experience is an asset; willingness to learn is essential
