Key Category Sales Manager – Ductless (Canada)

About Our Client

Our client is a leader in the HVAC industry and is looking to grow their amazing team!

What You Will Be Doing as a Key Category Sales Manager – Ductless:

Responsible for the ownership, growth, and execution of the ductless (mini-split / multi-split/VRF) category strategy across Canada.

This role leads the development and execution of go-to-market strategies, drives market share growth, and acts as the national subject matter expert for ductless products. The primary function is to promote and generate sales by aligning product, channel, and customer strategies across distribution, contractors, and key accounts.

The role bridges sales, product management, and marketing, ensuring aligned execution and a winning position in a highly competitive and evolving category.

Duties and Responsibilities or Job Functions

· Category Strategy & Growth

· Develop, own, and execute the national ductless/VRF category strategy, including revenue, volume, and market share targets

· Identify where to win (segments, regions, channels, customer types) and prioritize investments accordingly

· Build and deliver annual and multi-year growth plans aligned to company objectives

· Monitor market trends, competitive positioning, and channel dynamics to adjust strategy in real time

· Customer & Channel Development

· Define and prioritize key customer conversion targets (distributors, contractors, national accounts, and influencers)

· Partner with Sales Managers and field teams to drive sell-through and specification wins

· Support the development of contractor programs, training, and incentives to accelerate adoption

· Strengthen relationships with top distribution partners to expand category penetration

· Commercial Execution

· Lead the launch and execution of new ductless/VRF products and programs

· Ensure alignment across pricing, promotions, inventory, and channel strategy

· Track and analyze key performance metrics, identifying gaps and driving corrective action

· Support monthly, quarterly, and annual business reviews with clear performance reporting

· Cross-Functional Leadership

· Act as the primary liaison between Sales, Marketing, Product Management, and Operations for the ductless category

· Provide input into product roadmap, forecasting, and demand planning

· Collaborate with Marketing on positioning, campaigns, and lead generation strategies

· Support development of tools, content, and training materials

· Training & Enablement

· Develop and deliver ductless/VRF product and application training to internal teams, distributors, and contractors

· Build category expertise across the organization

· Ensure consistent communication of strategies, policies, and value propositions

· General

· Maintain strong technical and market knowledge of ductless systems

· Support broader air strategy initiatives as required

· Other assigned duties as deemed necessary

· Expansion of contractor adoption and distributor engagement

What You Should Have, as a Key Category Sales Manager – Ductless:

· Strong leadership presence with commercial and strategic sales acumen

· Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, or related field (or equivalent experience)

· 5–8+ years of HVAC experience, with strong exposure to ductless systems preferred

· Proven experience in category management, product management, or strategic sales leadership

· Deep understanding of HVAC distribution channels and contractor ecosystem in Canada

· Demonstrated ability to build and execute data-driven growth strategies

· Strong analytical, planning, and business case development skills

· Excellent communication and presentation skills (executive-level capable)

· Ability to work cross-functionally and influence without direct authority

· Self-starter with the ability to operate independently in a fast-moving environment

· Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)

· Willingness to travel across Canada as required
