Nu Edge Construction Ltd. is currently seeking an experienced Journeyman Parts Person to join our team at our Camrose location. This position plays an important role in supporting our shop, field mechanics, equipment operations, and construction crews by ensuring the right parts and materials are available when and where they are needed.
Position Summary
The Journeyman Parts Person is responsible for sourcing, ordering, receiving, organizing, and distributing parts and materials required for Nu Edge's heavy equipment, trucks, trailers, and field operations.
The successful candidate will have strong knowledge of heavy equipment and automotive parts, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced construction environment where equipment downtime needs to be minimized.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify, source, order, receive, and distribute parts for heavy equipment, trucks, trailers, and shop operations.
- Work closely with Heavy Equipment Technicians, supervisors, and field personnel to determine parts requirements.
- Source parts efficiently while considering availability, cost, quality, and delivery timelines.
- Maintain accurate parts inventory and stock levels.
- Monitor frequently used parts and ensure appropriate inventory is maintained.
- Receive incoming shipments and verify quantities, part numbers, and condition.
- Process parts returns, warranties, exchanges, and core returns.
- Maintain accurate records of purchase orders, work orders, invoices, and parts transactions.
- Ensure parts are properly assigned to the correct equipment unit, project, or work order.
- Coordinate urgent and emergency parts requirements for field equipment.
- Communicate with suppliers regarding pricing, availability, backorders, and delivery schedules.
- Maintain strong working relationships with vendors and suppliers.
- Organize and maintain the parts room, warehouse, and storage areas.
- Assist with inventory counts and inventory reconciliation.
- Coordinate parts pickups and deliveries when required.
- Support the shop and field service teams in reducing equipment downtime.
- Follow all Nu Edge safety policies, procedures, and company standards.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Perform additional duties as required to support shop and field operations.
Qualifications & Experience
- Journeyman Parts Technician certification is required.
- Previous parts experience within the heavy equipment, construction, trucking, agricultural, or off-road equipment industry is strongly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of heavy equipment, diesel engine, hydraulic, drivetrain, electrical, truck, and trailer parts.
- Experience sourcing parts for equipment such as excavators, dozers, graders, scrapers, packers, loaders, rock trucks, and other heavy construction equipment is considered an asset.
- Strong computer skills and experience using parts, inventory, purchasing, or work-order management systems.
- Ability to read and understand parts diagrams, equipment information, serial numbers, and manufacturer documentation.
- Valid Class 5 driver's licence with an acceptable driver's abstract.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Strong communication and customer-service skills.
- Ability to prioritize multiple requests in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work independently while contributing positively to the overall team.

Physical Requirements
The position may require standing for extended periods, bending, lifting, carrying, and moving parts and materials. The successful candidate must be able to safely perform the physical requirements associated with a busy heavy-equipment parts department.
