Most lending jobs hand you one slice of the process. This one hands you the whole pipeline. As our Advance Specialist 3, you are the senior owner of the complete merchant cash advance lifecycle — customer service, underwriting, funding, servicing, collections, and partner relationships — and you carry real accountability for the growth of the business, not just the tickets in your queue.
About Us: A Growing Family of Brands
Magical Credit started twelve years ago with a simple belief: everyday Canadians and small businesses deserve access to credit, even when the banks say no. What began as a single lending product has grown into a family of brands, each built to solve a different financial need:
Magical Credit — Installment & Personal Loans: Flexible personal and installment loans with predictable fixed payments, accommodating lending criteria, and fast funding.
Magical Business — Merchant Cash Advances: Our newest business and the reason we are hiring. Merchant cash advances that give SMEs upfront capital based on future sales, with revenue-based repayment that flows with the natural rhythm of their business.
Magical Cash — Payday Loans: Fast, secure short-term loans that bridge the gap to the next pay cheque, with instant decisions and simple online applications.
Today we are firmly in growth mode, and Magical Business is where that growth is happening fastest. That is why this role exists — we need a senior operator to own the merchant cash advance cycle end-to-end as we scale it. We are a lean, entrepreneurial team where senior people are given genuine ownership: decisions here take hours, not committees.
Why “Specialist 3”?
The “3” is deliberate. This is not an entry-level or single-function seat. Level 3 means you operate across all three dimensions of the business: (1) the merchant relationship, (2) the credit and capital decision, and (3) the growth and development of the team around you. You will be trusted like a department head and measured like one.
What You Will Own (Full-Cycle)
You manage each advance through its entire life — a true full circle:
Customer Service & Merchant Relations — Serve as the primary point of contact for merchants from application through payoff; deliver responsive, professional service at every touchpoint.
Underwriting — Review applications, analyze bank statements, cash flow, and business performance; assess risk, structure offers, and make sound funding recommendations within policy.
Funding & Deal Execution — Prepare agreements, verify documentation, coordinate disbursement, and ensure every advance is funded accurately, compliantly, and on time.
Portfolio Management & Servicing — Monitor remittances and account health across the portfolio; identify early warning signs and act before small issues become losses.
Collections & Recovery — Own the collections stage of the cycle: contact delinquent merchants, negotiate workable repayment arrangements, restructure where appropriate, and escalate to legal recovery when required — always firmly, professionally, and within Canadian regulatory standards.
Vendor & Partner Relationships — Build and manage relationships with ISOs, brokers, and vendor partners; keep deal flow healthy and hold partners to quality standards.
Training & Team Development — As a senior team member, onboard, train, and develop other team members; document processes, raise the bar on quality, and build the playbook others will follow.
Business Growth — Contribute directly to the growth and success of the business: improve conversion, reduce losses, propose product and process improvements, and treat the portfolio's performance as your own scoreboard.
What You Bring
3+ years of experience in merchant cash advance, alternative lending, non-prime consumer lending, or a closely related credit environment.
Hands-on experience in at least two stages of the lending cycle (e.g., underwriting and collections, or sales and servicing) — and the ambition to master all of them.
Strong financial analysis skills: comfortable reading bank statements, spotting NSF patterns, stacking, and cash-flow risk.
Proven negotiation and de-escalation skills for collections conversations that protect both recovery and the relationship.
Experience working with CRMs, loan/advance management platforms, and Microsoft Excel.
A builder's mindset: you document what you do, train others willingly, and improve the process instead of just running it.
Excellent written and spoken English; professional, accountable, and comfortable being measured on results.
Legally entitled to work in Canada and able to work on-site in Vaughan, Ontario.
Nice to Have
Experience managing ISO/broker channels or vendor partnerships.
Familiarity with Canadian lending regulations, PIPEDA, and collections compliance in Ontario.
Prior experience training, mentoring, or supervising team members.
Additional languages are an asset.
What We Offer
Base salary of $45,000 – $50,000 per year, plus uncapped commission tied to portfolio quality, recoveries, and business results — strong performers meaningfully out-earn the base band.
A genuine senior mandate: full-cycle ownership, direct access to leadership, and real influence over how the business grows.
Fast decision-making and zero bureaucracy — your ideas can ship the same week.
A clear runway: as the business scales, this role is positioned to grow into team leadership.
Your Growth Path
The “3” is a level, not a ceiling. This role sits on a defined ladder, and movement is tied to measurable results — portfolio performance, recovery rates, and the team members you develop:
Advance Specialist 3 (this role) — Master the full cycle end-to-end and own your portfolio's results.
Senior Specialist / Team Lead — Lead the MCA function day-to-day: set underwriting and collections standards, manage partner channels, and supervise junior specialists you have trained.
MCA Operations Manager — As the program scales, run the department: headcount, targets, P&L accountability, and a direct seat at the leadership table.
Reviews are performance-based, not tenure-based. Deliver, and you move.
Pay: $45,000.00-$50,000.00 per year
