We are a privately held, fully integrated, fence company with sales, manufacturing, distribution and installation services provided through our Edmonton and Calgary operations. Throughout our organization, we are proud to have a significant team of employees with extensive experience in estimating, procurement, inventory management, manufacturing, project management, Health & Safety, field installation and construction management. Although, the foundation of Phoenix is built upon “Specializing in Chain Link Fence”, over the last several years, we have progressively expanded our product line and relative service capabilities to include; Vinyl (PVC) Fence, Ornamental (Wrought Iron) Fence, Automatic (Electric) Gate Operator Systems, and numerous Fence Related Products including Privacy Slats, Snow/Safety Fence, Farm Field & Game Fence, T-Posts, Pipe, Tube, Barb Wire, Barbed Staples. All our products are supported by industry leading sales professionals, manufacturing capacity, inventory / distribution systems, installation services and Health & Safety Program.

Your Opportunity:

We are currently seeking a Buyer to join our Procurement Team. The team is looking for an enthusiastic individual with Administrative/Procurement work experience, who has strong organizational, multi-tasking and communication skills. Reporting directly to Procurement Manager, the ideal candidate would be extremely detail oriented with a knack for quickly adopting new programs and digital tools. This individual will assist with various purchasing duties within the Procurement Team, which is responsible for the procurement of office / shop supply products, fencing & steel products. This individual will also be expected to assist in implementing new ERP process & procedures within the department.

The ideal candidate will have:

Purchasing and expediting of items for stock and customer orders in compliance with established policies and procedures.
Source materials, assets and services in accordance with policies and procedures, using cost-effective and ethical approaches and meeting required criteria.
Strong knowledge in ERP systems & process; excellent with Microsoft Office products including Excel and Word.
Good understanding of MRP & Procurement process.
Experience in managing and buying office & shop supplies.
Experience in managing and buying from steel suppliers.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Outstanding organizational skills
Strong customer service orientation.
High school diploma or equivalent, with a college or university degree preferred, or an acceptable combination of education and relevant experience.
3+ years work experience purchasing in industrial steel markets. (Fencing Industry experience is preferred)
Proficient in Microsoft programs (Specifically Excel, Power Point and Word)

Education and Experience

High school diploma
SCMP or equivalent certification. (Preferred)
Ability to engage with suppliers and develop long term relationships.
Good interpersonal relationship skills and excellent verbal/written communication skills are required along with a strong desire to work in a fast-paced highly interdisciplinary environment.
Experience developing templates for contracts and other business transactions.
Able to prioritize and drive to results with a high emphasis on quality.
Ability to handle multiple projects concurrently.
Ability to work well in a team environment.
Demonstrated ability to negotiate cost effective vendor agreements.
Excellent communication and collaborative skills
Demonstrated ability to provide superior internal and external client experience
