PROCESS GROUP INC - Sales Estimator

POSITION IDENTIFICATION

JOB TITLE: Rigging Sales Estimator DEPT # Millwright & Rigging Service

LOCATION: Cambridge, Ontario

REPORTING TO: Vice President Construction

POSITION SUMMARY

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES IN BRIEF FORM

1. Responsible for the development of Machinery Moving Sales by promoting the capabilities of the organization, establishing the Company on appropriate bid lists, and providing quotation pricing.

2. This position requires continuous and frequent contact with current customers while utilizing a similar approach to establish new accounts. This position is also responsible for preparing sales estimates and managing the planning, scheduling, and execution of successful quotation proposals.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (EXPANDED)

1. Solicit crane, transportation, rigging and machinery moving sales opportunities in order to further penetrate the Western GTA market and to expand the customer list;

Maintain positive relations with existing customers through frequent telephone contact ,by email and by field visit with customer personnel (i.e. superintendents, project managers etc.).

2. Develop strategic relationships with vendors to expand market penetration.

3. Complete sales reports, bid registers, record of marketplace contacts and other related standard Company reporting.

4. Respond to telephone, email and fax inquiries for the provision of crane, boom truck, transportation, and other rigging and millwright services offered by the Company. Obtain all details (i.e. name of calling company representing, telephone number, details of requirements). Determine if in-house or out -of-house equipment will be required, and whether sub-trade assistance is required.

5. Pursue and obtain tender specifications of plant maintenance, equipment relocation and installation proposals, prepare estimates pursuant to the conditions of the tender, solicit sub-trade and vendor pricing, complete the related quantity takeoff and necessary estimating extensions, and make the timely submissions of quotation replies, all in compliance to Company standards.

6. Assist and participate with other sales estimators to offer all complementary Process Group Services.

7. Open “Work Orders” for awarded work, and complete all the information requested on the form; where the scope of work involves segregated work activities that should be tracked separately either for billing purposes or for estimating historical data, also open sub-work orders and label each accordingly; this also applies to extra work beyond the original scope in the case of a fixed price quotation/contract.

8. Complete Personnel, Material, Tool, Equipment requisition forms with sufficient detail to cover all resource requirements; when completing paperwork group materials separately to assist in identifying purchase requirements.

9. Provide and assemble all information for “Job Start Up” including copies of : Work Order/Sub-Work Orders; Customer Purchase Order and Quotation accepted by Customer listing clarifications and other terms/conditions; Drawings and Specifications; Schedule; Safety Package; Timesheets (Daily/Weekly); Personnel-Materials-Tools-Equipment requisitions; other special instructions if required.

10. Maintain control and review of all customer purchase orders and job activities to ensure same is consistent with the terms of quotations and secure change orders for services provided extra to the original scope and price.

11. Review job cost status records (Jonas Accounting Reports) to manage profitability of contract work and be responsible for directing the customer billing of all services provided.

12. Manage accounts to ensure prompt invoicing (progress billing (monthly) and completed (final plus extras)) and be responsible for hands-on collection of overdue accounts.

13. Follow up with customers using the Job Completed Questionnaire as a quality check and customer satisfaction relations gesture; communicate with Sales and Marketing personnel.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

a) Ability to generate leads for potential work which will include cold calling - disciplined to provide weekly activity/sales records.

b) Ability to organize the various functions for which the position is responsible - must be a detailed individual.

c) Ability to resist stress created by unequal work loads and maintain a persistent and pleasant disposition with customers, management, field and office employees.

d) Requires a strong mechanical aptitude and experience in machinery moving, hoisting, and rigging - individual with a trade certificate preferred.

e) Requires a working knowledge of heavy construction tools and equipment including forklifts, winches , jacking systems, hydraulic skidders, boom trucks and cranes, gantry systems, tractors and floats.

f) Requires a post-secondary diploma or equivalent level of literacy - working knowledge of computerized reporting systems and word process/spreadsheet software will be an asset.

g) Ability to manage people and work closely coordinating with other departments and individuals.

PERFORMANCE INDICATORS

a) The specific number of opportunities to make quotation proposals for work, the overall sales volume generated and the margins realized.

b) The level of technical analysis to determine customer requirements, and most cost effective means utilizing company resources to create competitive quotation pricing.

c) Completeness of estimate file information, sub-trade pricing documentation, Company Quotations, work orders, labor-tools-equipment requisitions.

d) The level of job planning and scheduling and communication with Job Foremen.

e) Safety (no incidents) and Quality of work performed (no warranty claims/call backs).

f) Customer satisfaction and return new work requests.

Additional Summary of Expectations

Value - Jobs from $1000 - $100,000 (most jobs would fall under $50,000)

Experience - 5 yrs experience in a Sales Capacity

Trade Back Ground - Ironworker/Rigger/Millwright

Area - West End GTA (Most business will be Etobicoke, Burlington, Oakville, Brampton, Mississauga, Milton)

Customer Base - Ideally would bring some customer base. Will be given some existing customer contacts to maintain.

Annual Volume 1.5 - 2 Million

Salary - On Experience

Industry Target - Machinery Moving

Industry Areas - Plastics, Presses, Machinery Dealers, Production Equipment, Packaging Equipment. Cardboard

Needs to be aggressive, good communicator, able to work independently. Basic Computer Literacy would be an asset.
