The Opportunity
Due to continued growth, we are seeking a a customer-service focused Assistant Site Manager to fill an existing vacancy who will work closely with the Site Manager to oversee the execution of day-to-day operations activities, assist with inventory management, provide superior customer service, and be part of the Bryan's team to deliver on the winning experience for clients and customers.
The Ins and Outs of the Job
Reporting directly to the Site Manager, the Assistant Site Manager will:
- Learn and understand the full spectrum of operational activities and site management processes within each part of the auction cycle
- Develop a working knowledge of all operational positions, including Lead Hands, Associates, and Administrative Assistants, and Driving roles
- Assist the Site Manager with the daily operation of the site
- Assist with staffing coordination, task assignment, and support the coaching and development of existing employees as directed by, and in tandem with the Site Manager
- Monitor workflow and productivity, and report any concerns to the Site Manager
- Assist with training new employees on inventory, warehouse, and yard procedures
- Support the implementation and enforcement of Company policies and procedures.
- Develop a thorough understanding of intake, inventory, and loadout processes
- Learn the criteria used to evaluate, accept, or reject consignments; and once able, evaluate, accept, and reject potential consignments
- Assist with inventory control procedures, and monitor inventory sheets and other documentation for accuracy and completeness
- Monitor the inventory control sheet, records, and inventory processes
- Travel off site and participate in off-site inventory projects, as required.
- Learn customer and consignor resolution processes and develop a nuanced understanding of when it is appropriate to accept returns, issue partial or total refunds, and the associated paperwork
- Investigate and process customer resolutions and corrective actions as required
- Assist with and resolve customer and consignor concerns, seeking guidance from, or escalating significant issues to the Site Manager when appropriate
- Support operations staff to maintain positive customer and consignor relationships.
- Safely operate forklifts and other material handling equipment in accordance with Company policies and applicable legislation
- Develop proficiency operating Telehandlers, Lift Kings, skid steers, and other heavy equipment
- Conduct equipment inspections and report maintenance concerns as required
- Maintain all required certifications and operating competencies.
- Participate in off-site sales, inventory projects, and other Company initiatives when required
- Travel to alternate locations to support operations of other sites, as needed
- Be available for overnight travel assignments of up to one week in duration as needed.
- Participate in ongoing training and development activities to build operational and leadership capabilities
- Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency, customer service, and site performance
- Act as a supervisor in accordance with Section 27 of the Occupational Health and Safety Act
- Perform all duties with careful consideration to safeguard your health and safety and that of others.
- Other duties as assigned by the Site Manager or Director of Operations

Your education and career path are likely to have culminated in:
- Completion of high school
- 2+ years demonstrated experience providing leadership and direction to employees, contractors, or work crews
- 2+ years Forklift experience
- Telehandler/Lift King operating experience is strongly preferred
- Valid G-Class drivers license is required
- In-depth knowledge of the auction heavy equipment, machinery, agricultural equipment, or industrial equipment is considered a strong asset
- Advanced computer and smart phone proficiency, including the Microsoft Office suite, especially Outlook, Word, and Excel
- Proficiency with computer-based inventory management systems
- Excellent customer service and problem-solving skills
- Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to coordinate multiple competing priorities
- Ability to travel periodically, and participate in overnight travel assignments lasting up to 1-week
- Ability to work Saturdays, and overtime hours as required

The Interviewing Process
Candidates can expect that the interviewing process will generally include:
- An in-person interview with the Site Manager and Human Resources Manager (you’ll also have a chance to tour our facility!)
- An in-person or virtual interview with the Director of Operations.
- Professional reference checks
We understand that candidates who are currently employed will have to provide a notice period and respect the need for this vital transition. While we are looking to fill this role as soon as possible, we will establish a mutually agreed upon start date.
The Compensation Package
You will be rewarded for a job well done with a/an:
- Annual salary that accurately reflects what you bring to the role, starting in the $63-67,000/year range depending on experience
