Program Coordinator (CPNP) - Guysborough County - Paternity Leave

Position Summary
The CPNP Program Coordinator is responsible for the implementation, management, supervision, and evaluation of all the organization’s CPNP programs in their respective counties, in accordance with the guiding principles of the national Canada Prenatal Nutrition Program (CPNP) and the mandate and guiding principles of Kids First Association. As a member of a tri-county staff team, the CPNP Coordinator participates in county and tri-county staff relationships, problem solving and ongoing center-based relationships. They work within the organization's guidelines, policies, and mission and are accountable and responsible for specific projects as assigned.
Duties and responsibilities
1. Program Delivery
- Responsible for the development, implementation, management, supervision and evaluation of all activities of the CPNP program in their county
- Delivery of a weekly drop-in program for prenatal and postnatal individuals
- Provision of group work with pregnant individuals and/or individuals with children up to 12 months of age on topics related to pregnancy, birth and postnatal care
- Develop new programs that are responsive to the expressed needs of program participants or potential participants in consultation with the Executive Director
- Responsible for the expansion of CPNP programs, forming partnerships where appropriate
- Ensuring all CPNP programs are run according to the mission, mandate, policies and procedures and Occupational Health and Safety guidelines of Kids First Association
2. Human resource management
- Hiring and supervision of casual/contractual positions associated with their program
- Ensuring staff under their direction adheres to mission of the organization and all policies and procedures and OH&S
- Attend monthly county based staff meetings
3. Administration
- Ensuring that appropriate records and statistics are kept for all programs under their direction
- Ensuring that proper and accurate financial records are kept for the Regional Financial Administrator
- Acquiring necessary materials and equipment for all programs under their direction
- Ongoing monitoring and reporting for the local account of their County
- Managing program purchases within the budget for their program
- Answers and responds to telephone calls, as required
- Manages own correspondence, including maintaining an appropriate filing system for own work related documents.
4. Evaluation
- Responsible for the implementation, management, supervision and evaluation of all activities related to their program
- Responsible for the expansion of the programs forming partnerships where appropriate
5. Other
- Promotion of Kids First
- Adhering to the mandate, mission statement, policies, and procedures of Kids First Association.
- Promotion and adhering to the guiding principles of the Canada Prenatal Nutrition Program (CPNP)
- Responsible for maintaining good working relationships and communication among all staff associated with the organization
- Respecting the participants who use the centre and ongoing collaboration and consultation with the families to ensure Kids First is continuing to meet the needs of the community.
Qualifications
· High School Diploma and Some Post Secondary Education. Education in Nutrition, Early Childhood Education, or Human Services would be an asset
· Previous experience working/interacting with families and/or with young children
· Strong problem-solving and group work leadership skills
· Ability to interact with people of all ages and cultural backgrounds
· Ability to work independently and as part of a team
· Sound computer skills
· Effective oral and written communication skills
