Join us as Driller FIFO work!
Glacier Blasting part of NorLand Limited is searching for new team members to fill the position of Drillers for our site-based projects based in Northern Canada. Reporting to the Site Foreman, for this designated project, you will work with a team of site crew and other blasting professionals to operate drills for blasting activities.
Duties & Responsibilities:

Be able to operate one or more of these drills (Ranger 800, Atlas Copco T30R, Hoe Drill, AirTrack, DML) safely and efficiently

Drill holes following the blast plan and pattern laid out and complete drill logs for each hole

Operate the drills within the working capabilities of the machine and the capability of the operator

Assist blasters if required by laying out materials for each hole, loading materials in/out of magazines, and stemming holes

Assist Drill mechanics as needed including keeping detailed records of any maintenance issues and other paperwork

Work with driller helpers to ensure their safety around the drill

Promote, and lead by example, in a work environment where the safety and health of all employees, subcontractors, and individuals on site are paramount Operate as a productive member of a high-functioning field team to drive results

Maintain general cleanliness to ensure job sites are clear of hazards, waste, and scrap material

Load/unload materials and equipment as needed
Qualifications & Skills:
-
Experience operating one or more of these drills (Ranger 800, Atlas Copco T30R, Hoe Drill, AirTrack, DML) •
-
Experience operating a top hammer hydraulic drill (preferably Sandvik)

Safety knowledge and experience in the construction industry • Willing to work outdoors, exposed to all weather conditions

Self-motivated with the ability to work as part of the team

Experience with basic power and construction tools • Valid Driver’s License (including drivers abstract)

Fit to work – ability to see, hear, walk, stand, and lift 25kgs
-
Basic computer skills and ability to communicate in English, oral and written

Good work ethic and a willingness to learn
-
Ability to pass pre-access site medicals/drug and alcohol screening (some projects may require further checks such as criminal background and medical clearance)

Ability to obtain Security Screening to allow for handling explosives materials, a Possession and Acquisition License PAL will satisfy this requirement
Working Conditions:
-
Remote fly-in camp locations – Typical rotation is 4 weeks in and 2 weeks out, 12-hour days
-
Field environment with extreme outdoor temperatures, working to deadlines, some high-stress situations (e.g., meeting deadlines)
-
May be required to work outside of normal work hours to meet the needs of the project
-
Will be working with drills in a high dust and noisy environment (PPE including respirator provided)

Frequent travel
-
On-call for emergencies as needed
