Are you a Mechanical Engineering student eager to gain hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment?

Element5 is looking for a motivated Manufacturing Design Student to join our team for the Fall Term. This is an exciting opportunity to work alongside experienced professionals and contribute to a variety of projects that support the design, development, and manufacturing of mass timber construction solutions.

About Us
Element5 specializes in the design and production of sustainable, mass timber building components. Our team is passionate about innovation, craftsmanship, and making a difference through high-performance wood construction.

What You’ll Do
As a Manufacturing Designer Student, you’ll work alongside engineers and technicians on real-world challenges, including:

Assisting with mechanical design using AutoCAD or SolidWorks
Supporting preventative maintenance and production improvement initiatives
Analyzing mechanical systems to improve efficiency and reliability
Preparing technical documentation and reports
Participating in troubleshooting and root cause investigations
Collaborating with operations, maintenance, and quality teams

What You Bring

Currently enrolled in a Mechanical Engineering or related post-secondary program
Basic knowledge of mechanical systems, drafting, and manufacturing processes
Familiarity with CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, etc.)
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
A proactive, positive attitude and willingness to learn
Ability to work in both office and plant environments (PPE provided)
