Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and customer-focused Meat/Deli Clerk to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing and serving high-quality meats and deli products, providing excellent customer service, and maintaining a clean and organized work environment. This role offers an opportunity to develop skills in food preparation, food safety, and retail operations within a dynamic food industry setting. The Meat/Deli Clerk plays a vital role in ensuring customer satisfaction through efficient service and product knowledge.

Responsibilities

Prepare and slice meats, cheeses, and deli products according to company standards and customer requests
Assist customers with selections, answer questions about products, and provide exceptional customer service
Maintain proper food handling procedures to ensure safety and sanitation compliance
Manage inventory levels, restock displays, and organize the deli area for optimal presentation
Upsell products to increase sales while ensuring customer needs are met
Ensure cleanliness of workstations, utensils, and equipment in accordance with sanitation standards
Follow food safety guidelines related to storage, labeling, and expiration dates
Support team members during busy periods by assisting with food preparation and serving

Qualifications

Previous experience in food service, restaurant, or food industry preferred but not required
Knowledge of food preparation, handling, and sanitation standards
Strong customer service skills with the ability to engage positively with customers
Excellent time management skills to handle multiple tasks efficiently during shifts
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
Kitchen or food handling experience is advantageous but not mandatory
Ability to stand for extended periods and lift moderate weights as needed
Experience preferred but not necessary
