Halifax Regional Municipality (HRM) is inviting applications for casual positions of Skating Head Coach in the Recreation Programming division of Parks & Recreation.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Under the direction of the Community Recreation Program provide on-site supervision and instruction of the weekly skating program
To provide on-site direction to Skating Coaches in the implementation of the skating program, assist with schedule of skating coaches
To implement and continually improve the inclusive lesson plans for skating program activities
To ensure all skating coaches utilize a standard assessment
To maintain excellent customer service/communication with instructors, parents, and participants

QUALIFICATIONS:
Education & Experience

Coaching Level l Technical and Theory (Skating)
3 Years’ Experience teaching all levels of Skating Program
Basic Workplace First Aid Certification

Security Clearance Requirements: Applicants may be required to complete an employment security screening check.

Please note – Testing may be conducted as a component of the selection process to assess technical and job specific knowledge. Candidates, who are selected for testing. may be tested in a group setting, scheduled at the employer's discretion.

COMPETENCIES: Communication, Customer Service, Organization and Planning, Risk Management, Teamwork and Cooperation, Valuing Diversity, Initiative, Decision Making.

WORK STATUS: Casual/Seasonal – October 2026 - May 2027.

HOURS OF WORK: Casual, up to 15 hours a week per location. A head coach will be hired for each of the following locations. Shifts are as follows:

Eastern Shore Community Center: Saturdays 1:00 pm-2:00 pm.

SALARY: Non-Union, $27.75/hour.

WORK LOCATION: Eastern Shore Community Centre.
