Nielsen Roofing and Sheet Metal is one of the Southern Interior's leading commercial roofing and cladding contractors — known for high-end architectural sheet metal, custom flashing, metal roofing systems, premium cladding/ siding. Now part of the Tectra Group, we're taking on bigger, higher-profile projects than ever. For you, that means more variety in your work, more room to grow, and a crew of skilled tradespeople who genuinely take pride in what they build.

The Role

We're hiring Architectural Sheet Metal Workers to join our crews on some of the most interesting commercial and architectural projects in the region. This is hands-on fabrication and installation work — custom flashing, standing seam roofing, and premium cladding on buildings people actually stop to look at. Whether you're a seasoned journeyperson or a skilled tradesperson ready for more challenging, higher-craft work, if you care about tight seams, clean lines, and roofs that are still watertight in one hundred years, we want to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities

Install custom flashing, standing seam metal roofing, architectural panel systems, and specialty profiles — the details that make a building stand out
Work with premium materials — copper, zinc, fibre cement, composite, and roll-formed metal cladding and siding systems
Read and work from blueprints, shop drawings, and specs with precision (no “close enough”)
Fabricate and fit custom metal components in the shop and out in the field
Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean WorkSafeBC compliance record on every job
Work alongside Nielsen management and other trades to keep projects moving on schedule
Maintain the quality standards architects and GCs expect on Nielsen/Tectra projects
Mentor apprentices where opportunities arise (a good stepping stone if you're eyeing a lead hand or foreman role down the road)

What We're Looking For

Must Have:

3+ years of hands-on experience in architectural sheet metal, custom flashing, metal roofing, or cladding — this is skilled work, and it shows in the finished product
Journeyperson Sheet Metal Worker certification (or equivalent BC credentials — actively ticketed apprentices also encouraged to apply)
Solid blueprint and spec-reading skills
Current WorkSafeBC certifications (or willingness to obtain)
Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and the ability to work well as part of a crew

Nice to Have:

Hands-on experience with copper, zinc, fibre cement, roll-formed metal, or composite panel systems
Foreman or lead hand experience, or interest in growing into one of those roles
Computer proficiency for takeoffs, scheduling, or reporting tools
A desire to be the best at what you do every day
