Home Care Support Worker – Full-Time (2:1 In-Home & Community Support)

We are a family-managed disability services contract holder seeking one full-time Home Care Support Workers to provide 2:1 in-home and community-based support for our son, a young adult with complex needs, including Autism, Anxiety, OCD, Epilepsy, and behavioural support needs.

Because consistency is essential for safety and progress, this position is intended for individuals seeking long-term employment (12 months or more) and is not suited to short-term or transitional roles.

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 am–5:00 pm

Wage: $22.00–$25.00/hour (based on experience)

Key Responsibilities

Provide supportive assistance with activities of daily living and life skills development
Support personal care routines (toileting, dressing, hygiene)
Prepare simple meals and assist housekeeping
Provide transportation to appointments and community activities
Support participation in educational, recreational, and community inclusion opportunities
Foster positive relationships, meaningful connections, and joyful daily experiences in and out of the home
Follow behaviour support plans and de-escalation strategies
Complete daily documentation and communicate with the support team and family

Qualifications

Experience supporting individuals with developmental disabilities or complex support needs (Autism and Epilepsy experience preferred). Relevant life experience living or working with individuals with complex needs will be considered an asset.
Behaviour support or crisis intervention experience an asset
Must possess the ability to de-escalate stressful situations with a calm, nonjudgmental, and supportive approach.
Strong capability to build trust through supportive and positive engagement.
Proven experience in creating a safe, welcoming, and nonjudgmental environment.
Medication assistance experience preferred
Strong verbal and written English communication skills
Valid Class 5 Driver’s License and reliable personal vehicle
First Aid/CPR (or willingness to obtain)
Clear Vulnerable Sector & Criminal Record Check
Ability to work as part of a team
Knowledge of using and creating visuals for communication such as LessonPix.
Ability to use Google Workspace
Non-smoker (due to sensory considerations)

Location: Private family home located approximately 20 minutes from Stony Plain or 45 minutes from West Edmonton Mall. No public transit available. Pets in the home.

Employment Details: This is an employee position. While extended health benefits are not available, this role includes WCB coverage and employer-paid CPP and EI contributions, in accordance with employment standards. We value transparency so applicants can make an informed, long-term commitment.

Do you have at least 1 year of hands-on experience supporting an individual with Autism who has behavioural support needs, including potential aggression or combative behaviour? (Yes is required to proceed)
Are you confident and experienced in using de-escalation strategies during behavioural incidents without taking behaviours personally or holding past incidents against the individual?
