Salary Expectation: $17.60/hour CAD

Organization Description

The Matty’s Patty’s (“MP”) concept manifested from a memorable trip to Oahu, Hawaii where Matty Matheson and RVCA founder Pat Tenore launched the Matty’s Patty’s apparel line serving burgers to local youth at a skate park. Matty wanted to do something new and unique and he had the burger recipe to do it. This idea of “showing love” to the community and the desire to constantly recreate this led to a series of successful international burger pop ups. Matty’s Patty’s is proud to be Matty’s first restaurant in his hometown of Toronto.

Our goal at MP’s is to provide the best burgers in the City with top quality food experience which goes beyond any other burger joint. Our mission is simple - to spread love through burgers. We aim to build lasting relationships with our guests through frictionless service and a high-quality product. Our guests should expect welcoming service and perfection every time they come. Their experience with us should feel timeless, lively yet professional. MPs aims to enrich the fast food experience of Torontonians while creating a destination for epicures all over the world.

Job Description

MP is hiring Part Time Front of House employees (“FOH”) who will report to the General Manager. Under the direction of the management team consisting of the General and Restaurant, the fundamental duties of the FOH employees include responsibility for customer interactions and relations, food preparation, lunch and or dinner service, station management and cleaning. FOH employees are responsible for enacting all the day-to-day operations of MP and will maintain a safe, welcoming and professional environment for all staff, guests, and vendors.

Responsibilities (include but are not limited to the following)

Service Operations
Maintain an in-depth knowledge of food and beverage on offer to ensure a high standard of service for guests
Ability to deal with high pressure environments while maintaining a standard set by management and yourself
Maintain athletic composure throughout service by organizing yourself and your station for success each service
Set goals to achieve success short term and long term
Check identification of guests to ensure legal drinking age laws are being complied with
Serve guests one-on-one or in groups in a friendly, professional and knowledgeable manner
Maintain daily cleanliness and sanitation of your service areas, equipment and your appearance
Uphold health and safety protocols in accordance with internal policies, as well as recommended personal hygiene practices outlined by the Ontario health ministry, Health Canada and WHO
Strong and effective communication with Kitchen Manager, Head Chef and General Manager

Required Experience

Professional and personable; exceptional guest relations skills
2+ years of experience in high-volume food production or catering roles
Understanding of basic culinary techniques, professional cooking equipment and material
Knowledge of safety, sanitation and food handling procedures
Strong attention-to-detail and organizational skills

Work Environment

The work environment can be loud and busy
There are many kitchen hazards such as hot surfaces, liquids, sharp knives and slippery floors
This position regularly requires long hours and weekend work

Physical Demands

The employee is required to stand for extended periods of time (up to 12 hours) as well as walk, bend, stoop, climb, balance, kneel and crawl
The position requires working taste buds, ability to smell, feel with fingers and visually inspect, including close and distance vision
This position requires the ability to use your arms, hands and manipulate fingers to reach, stir, measure, pour, cut, chop, dice, decorate, etc.
Lifting and/or moving up to 20 lbs. regularly; occasionally lifting and/or moving up to 50 lbs.
