Full job description

Overview
Summit Rebar is looking for a Telehandler Operator to support daily shop and yard operations in Hamilton. This role is responsible for moving rebar safely and efficiently throughout the yard and facility, supporting production flow, and keeping material staged properly for fabrication and shipping.

This is a hands-on role in a fast-paced rebar environment. We want someone who is dependable, safety-focused, and knows how to handle heavy, long material without creating chaos on the floor.

Responsibilities

Operate a telehandler to move rebar bundles and material safely in the yard and shop
Load and unload trucks and organize incoming and outgoing material
Feed production stations, including Shearline and bending areas
Remove processed material from shear bins and transfer it to the next work area
Maintain clean and organized staging areas and travel paths
Complete daily equipment inspections and report defects or maintenance concerns
Follow all health and safety procedures, site rules, and PPE requirements
Work closely with shop and yard personnel to keep production moving
Support other material handling tasks as required

Requirements

Previous experience operating a telehandler in an industrial, steel, rebar, or construction environment
Valid telehandler certification
Strong awareness of safe load handling practices
Able to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision
Good communication and teamwork
Reliable attendance and punctuality
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work on your feet throughout the shift
Commitment to maintaining a safe work environment through adherence to safety guidelines and procedures

Assets

Roto-telehandler experience
Rebar shop or steel yard experience
Forklift experience
Overhead crane experience
Basic mechanical aptitude

Working conditions

Shop and yard environment
Exposure to dust, noise, weather, and heavy materials
Overtime may be required
PPE required at all times
