Course Information

This course is designed for students who intend to work for multi-business enterprises (as product and general managers or as professional staff) or with multi-business enterprises (as consultants, accountants, investment bankers, analysts, etc.). Multi-business organizations are those enterprises that have, under the active management of a corporate head office, more than one business unit or division. Most of the companies featured in the cases used in this course are examples of this type of entity, although we do have some cases at the extremes to illustrate the full spectrum of corporate level issues. The definition of a multi-business enterprise does not include the pure holding company form - companies that hold passive positions (generally partial ownership) in multiple businesses but are not involved in the active management of those underlying business - they are portfolio investors. As such they are closer to mutual funds and may have investment strategies but they do not have corporate strategies for creating value.

Responsibilities

You will be responsible for all activities associated with the successful delivery of the course, including but not limited to: developing, preparing, and delivering the course; setting and marking examinations, assessing the academic work of students, and reporting grades.

Candidates must be willing to undertake training as required by the Employer including, but not limited to, training in respect of health and safety, harassment and discrimination, and legislated service standards.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

Master’s degree (or equivalent) in a relevant field by the course start date or a relevant Bachelor’s degree with significant professional experience.
Demonstrated subject-matter expertise, supported by relevant education and/or substantial professional experience.
Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication; ability to facilitate discussion-based and active learning (e.g., cases, experiential learning, simulations).
Prior postsecondary teaching and/or professional training, coaching, facilitation, or curriculum/learning design experience, with evidence of effectiveness (e.g., teaching evaluations, sample syllabus/lesson plan, sample assessments, or training materials).
Demonstrated ability to teach and work effectively with diverse learners; commitment to inclusive teaching practices and respectful classroom dialogue.
Demonstrated professionalism, integrity, and sound judgment; ability to apply institutional policies and maintain confidentiality.
Ability to deliver the course as scheduled in the required modality (in-person/online/hybrid) and to meet instructional responsibilities (preparation, meeting with students as needed to provide support, timely grading and feedback, coordination with course leadership and academic administration).

Preferred Qualifications

PhD/DBA (or other terminal degree) in a relevant field.
Relevant professional designation(s) and/or advanced credentials (where applicable).
Significant (typically 7+ years) relevant professional and/or senior leadership experience in complex, multi-stakeholder environments, with demonstrated ability to connect course concepts to current practice through examples, projects, and practitioner networks.
Demonstrated experience integrating responsible generative AI and/or educational technology into teaching/learning/assessment in line with institutional guidance.

Course offerings could be assigned to the workload of full-time faculty or to part-time faculty with seniority or preference rights in accordance with the Faculty Collective Agreement, or left unfilled based on operational/enrolment requirements. All positions are subject to budget approval.
