Human Resources Generalist

Selections Career Support Services (Selections) is a community-based, non-profit organization that supports Albertans with disabilities and other barriers to employment to enter and succeed in the workforce. Position Overview

Reporting to the Senior Executive Support & Projects Coordinator, the HR Generalist is the people operations backbone of Selections Career Support Services (SCSS). This is a hands-on, sole-charge HR role responsible for the full employee lifecycle across three locations. From recruitment through offboarding, with day-to-day ownership of benefits, WCB, performance, training, and compliance.

The HR Generalist works closely with leaders and frontline staff who support Albertans with disabilities and barriers to employment. That mission shapes how SCSS works internally: we hold ourselves to the same standards of inclusion, accessibility, and dignity that we advocate for in the community and labour market.

This role suits someone who is genuinely energized by non-profit work, comfortable being the only HR practitioner in the room, and able to balance compliance rigor with the pragmatism a resource-conscious environment demands.

Qualifications

· Post Secondary education in Human Resources, Business/Public Administration, or a related field

· 3+ years of progressive HR experience; non-profit or public-sector experience preferred

· Working knowledge of employment standards, OHS, and human rights legislation

· Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities across multiple stakeholders

· Strong written communication and the ability to write a policy, manager coaching document, or sensitive employee letter with care

· Comfortable working with HRIS platforms, Microsoft 365, and other digital tools

· Discretion, sound judgment, and ability to maintain confidentiality and protect sensitive information

· Ability to work collaboratively in a mission-driven, resource-conscious environment

· Professional HR designation (e.g., CPHR) or progress toward certification is an asset

· Demonstrated commitment to disability inclusion, accessibility, and employment equity for marginalized populations

· Valid Class 5 Alberta Driver’s License and access to a reliable vehicle.

Key Responsibilities

· Facilitate full-cycle recruitment, onboarding, and offboarding while ensuring consistency and a positive employee experience

· Serve as a first point of contact for supervisors and employees on policy, process, and day-to-day people questions

· Coach front-line and mid-level managers through performance conversations, leave management, and various employee relations matters, escalating complex matters to the manager or Executive Director, as appropriate

· Coordinate organization-wide training and professional development

· Administer employee benefits and respond to benefit-related inquiries

· Maintain employee records, employer binders, and HR compliance documentation

· HRIS management and data integrity

· Manage performance evaluation processes and related documentation

· Administer WCB claims and support return-to-work and accommodation processes

· Promote inclusive and equitable workplace practices

· Lead employee wellness and well-being initiatives

· Conduct exit interviews and analyze feedback

· Track HR metrics (turn over, recruitment, training participation)

· Perform audits, grant writing, reporting, and safety programming as requested

· Deliver various HR reports as requested by management (e.g., employee engagement, turnover)

Additional Requirements

· This position is based at the Southside office and requires regular travel between the Southside, Leduc, and Edmonton office locations.

· A valid driver's license and a reliable vehicle.

· Criminal Record Check (and Child Intervention Check if applicable).
