Since 1948, AGF has played a key role in the supply and installation of reinforcing steel, with over 50,000 projects completed across the country and beyond. We’ve contributed to major construction projects such as the light-rail transit in Toronto, the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) and the SickKids Research Institute. Come bend, cut, and bundle steel bars using automatic, semi-automatic, and manual machinery, and see your work come to life in major construction projects!

What we offer :

Competitive salary starting at $21.34/hour with salary increases based on months worked ($23.58/hour after 3 months, $25.83/hour after a year, $26.95/hour after 2 years, and $28.07/hour after 3 years);
Evening shift: 14h to 22h30 with a premium of $1.00/h;
Weekly pay;
Full insurance coverage (health, dental, and vision) after the probationary period;
Group RRSP with a $1.25 per hour employer contribution after the probationary period;
Annual raises;
Paid vacation, including 10 paid holidays;
$200 per year for equipment allowance, based on your position;
Telemedicine program and employee assistance program;
Physical activity reimbursement of $600 per year to promote health and well-being.

About the Role - Your main responsibilities will include:

Safely operate shearing, bending, and shaping machines
Cut rebar to specified lengths and bend to required shapes and angles.
Ensure correct bar sizes, grades, and tags are used for each order.
Bend to lift and manually load up to 50 pounds rebar into the machines on a regular basis.
In a standing position, untangle and shake up to 50 pounds of rebar as needed.
Perform daily pre-use inspections of machinery and tools and daily hazard assessment and immediately report any machinery irregularities.
Permanently wear the required personal protective equipment (PPE) to avoid injuries
Keep hands, clothing, and tools away from all moving parts and never bypass safety guards or devices.
Clean machines and work areas after following proper shutdown and lockout/tagout procedures.
Comply at all times with AGF’s Health & Safety policies
Perform other duties as assigned. #P1

About You: The ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience.

1-2 years of experience in a similar role in manufacturing;
Basic math/measurement skills (an asset);
Ability to learn various types of manufacturing equipment;
Ability to work physically – lift/move up to 50lbs;
Willingness and capacity to work outside in varying weather conditions, and perform physical work;
Good communication skills, Multi-tasking and a strong capacity for teamwork.
