About Us

The Waskasoo Environmental Education Society (WEES) operates the Kerry Wood Nature Centre and Historic Fort Normandeau, two of Red Deer’s most beloved community spaces. About the Role

The Financial Coordinator is responsible for ensuring WEES manages financial elements of its operations efficiently, and in compliance with its policies and other regulatory requirements. Financial elements of WEES include but are not limited to payroll, accounts payable and receivable, benefits administration, budgeting, and completion of journal entries and financial statements.

The Financial Coordinator plays a key role in ensuring that other members of the leadership team have timely, reliable information regarding the financial status of the organization, supported by record-keeping that is transparent and accurate at all times.

Key Responsibilities

Maintain accurate financial records, ledgers, and reconciliations.
Manage accounts payable and receivables with care and timeliness.
Process bi‑weekly payroll, deductions and year‑end reporting.
Administer employee benefits and coordinate with the Local Authorities Pension Plan (LAPP).
Prepare and submit CRA remittances, T4s, and other filings.
Assist with monthly financial statements and budget tracking.
Monitor cash flow and support forecasting and variance analysis.
Keep employee files current and compliant; help coordinate HR documentation.
Support purchasing activities and track expenses.
Liaise with auditors and external accountants during reviews.
Prepare and maintain accurate grant reports.

Qualifications and Experience

Degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Demonstrated experience in bookkeeping, payroll processing and financial reporting.
Familiarity with not‑for‑profit financial practices is an asset.
Working knowledge of ADP, Sage 50 or similar systems.
Strong Excel and general computer skills (Google Workspace and Microsoft Office).
Exceptional attention to detail and organizational and time management skills.
Discretion with confidential and sensitive information.

Pay: $25.00-$30.00 per hour
