TDE is searching for a Sr. Process Engineer to perform process simulations and design, and sizing, and selection of equipment for oil and gas processing facilities.
Responsibilities
Includes but not limited to:
- Lead and oversee complex projects from conceptual design through detailed engineering, procurement, and commissioning phases.
- Provide technical leadership, ensuring project objectives are met in terms of quality, safety, schedule, and budget.
- Ensure all process engineering deliverables are completed to high standards and in compliance with applicable codes, regulations, and client specifications.
- Take accountability for engineering decisions, outcomes, and professional conduct in accordance with APEGA’s Ethical Practice and regulatory framework.
- Demonstrate a high level of competency and integrity in technical judgment, project management, and ethical decision-making.
- Review and authenticate Professional Work Products (PWPs), when required.
- Conduct and/or oversee process simulations.
- Prepare conceptual & FEED-level studies.
- Participate in and support process safety studies (HAZOP, HAZID, SIL, LOPA, etc.).
- Generate and review process deliverables including PFD, heat and material balance and P&IDs.
- Perform detailed process equipment design, including sizing, selection, and preparation of datasheets for vessels, towers, exchangers, and other components.
- Lead PSV and flare system sizing, line sizing, and development of process line lists.
- Prepare process data for instrumentation design and selection.
- Prepare control narrative, operating manuals, shutdown keys and alarm, and set point lists.
- Review and approve fabrications drawings.
- Attend and actively participate in 3D model review sessions.
- Assist with developing process engineering related standards, procedures, and tools.
- Supervise, mentor, and support junior engineers and EITs; may act as a validator for APEGA competency assessments.
- Coordinate with other process engineers, project engineers, and project managers to align design execution with project scope and timelines.
- Work with other engineering disciplines to ensure proper design of all equipment.
- Support procurement activities including preparation of RFQs, technical bid evaluations, and vendor coordination for process equipment and internals.
- Shop walkdown and PI&D review of assembled process packages.
- Peer review of other process engineer’s designs and equipment sizing.
- Attend client meetings.
- Support troubleshooting and optimization of operating plants as needed. Continuously demonstrate TDE’s core values and align with the mission and vision statements to achieve goals.
- Support, participate in, and help drive TDE’s health & safety program, safety awareness, and safety targets.
- Participate in departmental planning and goal setting as required.

Qualifications
- 8 to 15 years’ experience in Process Engineering with a gas processing focus is required.
- B.Sc. in Chemical Engineering or equivalent technology degree.
- Registered and in good standing with APEGA.
- P.Eng designation or working towards it.
- Good knowledge of oil & gas processes, equipment and requirements (TEG & Molecular Sieve Dehydration, Mechanical Refrigeration, Gas Sweetening, Liquids Fractionation, Turboexpander, NGL Recovery, NGL Storage & Offloading Sulfur Recovery, Utility Systems).
- Knowledge of process simulations, equipment sizing (separation, condensation stabilization, process heaters) and P&ID development for front end design and detailed engineering.
- Good working knowledge of HYSYS, Flarenet, Promax, Aspen Exchanger Design & HTRI.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work within teams or independently, and desire to learn and develop technical knowledge base.
- Adaptability and the ability to handle ambiguity.
- Proficient knowledge of industry best practices.
- Proven ability to produce high quality work while facing competing priorities and strict deadlines.
