Full job description

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

**This role will be split between our Summerland and Penticton office locations**

Do you have experience working with people with disabilities and vulnerable community members and want to work daily from Monday through Friday? We are looking for a Customized Employment Coach to provide this highly individualized service.

The Customized Employment Coach will utilize a client-centered, strength-based approach, and will assist individuals to achieve one or more of the following outcomes: competitive employment, sustainable self-employment, unpaid work placements, and/or long-term community attachment positions.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

Meet with employers to gather information on workplace needs and negotiate unique/carved employment opportunities for individuals with barriers to employment,
Determine on-the-job supports that will be needed for employment/peer placements and successful employment,
Provide individuals with other services such as one-to-one life skills and essential skills workshops, advocacy, job coaching and other supports as needed,
Assist clients in their quest for establishing a better quality of life through support and encouragement, and the provision of life skills, housing and employment services
Prepare and submit month end reports to Supervisor
Attend community meetings and network with community agencies when needed
Work collaboratively with Piers on other projects and supporting clients in future contracts
Utilize various counselling and life skills techniques and practices to work through client crisis’
Support the human rights of individuals through the development of self-worth and empowering individuals to become the primary decision-makers in their lives
Participate in community activities that provide client with an opportunity to enhance their skills
Reporting, and daily tracking of activities in ICM (Integrated Case Management System)
Conduct intake, assessment, and develop an Action Plan with the client and with the support of family or support network
Conducts client meetings in various locations to observe client in multiple locations, including meetings in home
Collects information about the job seeker’s interests, skills, environmental preferences, employment goals, and other topics related to the job seeker’s employment search
Arranging observations in both familiar and unfamiliar settings to assess an individuals skills, abilities and considerations
Work with the customized team and WorkBC participants receiving customized services, to assist them in attaining meaningful employment
Determine on-the-job supports that will be needed for employment placements and successful employment
Provide Job Coaching (as needed) during work placements to promote employment success and retention

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

- A post-secondary certificate, degree or diploma in a relevant field (e.g. career or employment development, social work, psychology, sociology, human services, counselling etc.) and,

- At least two years experience in a social service or employment services role where they can demonstrate:

- Conducting and interpreting Client Needs Assessments

- Coaching and mentoring of Clients

- Building partnerships with employers, community agencies and other stakeholders

- Assessing complex needs in specialized areas,
- Proficient with technology in a Window environment including MS office. ICM experience an asset.
- Proven ability to work effectively and achieve results with persons with cognitive, emotional, and behavioral barriers
- Knowledge of local labour market and proficient in job search strategies and skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a professional attitude
- Understanding of work-site supports and accommodations that may benefit individuals with disabilities, and

- Interpreting clinical assessments of Specialized Assessments and conducting disability related assessments.
- Valid Class 5 BC drivers license and vehicle required
- A CRC will be required from the successful candidate
