Full job description

Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Legal Assistant to support our legal team in various administrative and research tasks. The ideal candidate will possess strong proofreading, research, and writing skills. This role offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a professional legal environment, contributing to case preparation and document management. The position requires excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently.

Duties

Assist with legal research to gather relevant case information and precedents
Draft, review, and proofread legal documents, correspondence, and filings with accuracy and attention to detail
Manage case files through organized filing systems, both electronic and physical, ensuring easy retrieval of documents
Perform data entry tasks related to case management systems and maintain accurate records of case activities
Support team with project management tasks, including scheduling, document tracking, and deadline monitoring
Conduct interviews and gather information from clients or witnesses as needed for case preparation
Handle administrative duties such as answering phones with professional phone etiquette, scheduling appointments, and managing calendars
Assist with document organization for application filings and ensure compliance with procedural requirements
Provide general clerical support including copying, scanning, and maintaining office supplies

Qualifications

Proven experience in administrative or clerical roles within a legal setting preferred
Experience related to Immigration files inside Canada is a must.
Strong proofreading, writing skills, and attention to detail essential for drafting legal documents
Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
Proficiency in data entry and filing systems—both electronic and physical—required
Effective communication skills including professional phone etiquette
Ability to perform legal research effectively and efficiently
Prior experience in interviewing clients or witnesses is advantageous
Knowledge of legal drafting standards and procedures preferred

Pay: $19.00-$20.00 per hour
