Full job description

Purpose of the Job:

The Program Coordinator, Traditional Wellness and Reconciliation (TWR), supports the development, implementation, and delivery of Indigenous Cultural Safety (ICS) curriculum, training, and resources that respond to the needs of Ontario’s healthcare system. This role works closely with Indigenous Knowledge Holders, IPHCC members, healthcare partners, and communities to ensure training is culturally grounded, relevant, and impactful.

The coordinator plans, facilitates, and supports virtual and in-person ICS workshops across Ontario, supports relationship building and community engagement activities, monitors emerging healthcare trends, and contributes to program evaluation and continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

Curriculum and Program Development

Coordinate the development, review, and updating of ICS curriculum, training materials, and resources
Collaborate with Indigenous Knowledge Holders, consultants, and community to ensure content reflects diverse Indigenous perspectives and cultural safety principles
Support the development and management of digital and print resources
Monitor healthcare trends, policy changes, and participant feedback to identify emerging training needs and recommend program improvements

Workshop Coordination and Facilitation

Plan, schedule, and coordinate virtual and in-person ICS workshops and training sessions across Ontario
Deliver and co-facilitate workshops for healthcare professionals, educators, and community organizations
Coordinate training logistics, materials, participant communications, and post-training follow-up activities

Partner and Community Engagement

Foster respectful and collaborative relationships with Indigenous communities, healthcare organizations, IPHCC members, and partners
Coordinate consultations, meetings, and engagement activities to gather feedback and strengthen program relevance and impact
Support relationship building initiatives aligned with IPHCC’s mission, values, and reconciliation commitments

Evaluation and Continuous Improvement

Develop and implement evaluation tools to assess the training effectiveness and participant experience
Analyze feedback and evaluation data to support continuous quality improvement
Prepare reports, summaries, and updates for leadership and project stakeholders

Project Coordination

Support project planning, scheduling, tracking, and reporting activities related to ICS initiatives
Contribute to additional projects and organizational priorities as needed

Qualifications and Experience:

Undergraduate degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience

Advanced knowledge of the Indigenous health, histories, cultures, and communities in Ontario
Understanding of Indigenous Cultural Safety, anti-racism, and reconciliation principles withing healthcare and community settings
Experience coordinating projects, training programs, or community engagement initiatives
Strong facilitation, presentation, interpersonal, and written communication skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment
Experience working collaboratively with Indigenous communities and partners is considered an asset

Work Conditions:

Primarily office-based with regular travel throughout Ontario to Indigenous communities, IPHCC member sites, conferences, and training locations
Travel may at times be extensive and include multi-day or overnight travel
Flexible work hours may occasionally be required to support training delivery and community engagement activities
Requires sensitivity in managing confidential and culturally sensitive information
