What will you be doing!

Analyzing monthly, quarterly, and year-over-year financial results and trends, while producing and updating rolling forecasts and ensuring data accuracy and integrity.

Conducting and evaluating what-if scenarios and performing cost-benefit and breakeven analyses on key business initiatives.

Promoting and ensuring consistent use of financial policies, processes, and tools to maintain integrity, safeguard assets, and mitigate risk.

Providing financial planning, business analysis, and decision support to stakeholders across the organization.
-
Reviewing and overseeing project estimates, contracts, service agreements, and purchase commitments to ensure accuracy and policy compliance.

Developing and maintaining analytics solutions, including dashboards, metrics reporting, savings analysis, and contract compliance tracking, to enable ongoing improvements.

Facilitating and delivering operational and strategic analyses with actionable recommendations to support program and project outcomes.

Advising and overseeing program expenditures and revenues in alignment with the organization’s financial management framework.

Preparing and analyzing Net Present Value (NPV), Internal Rate of Return (IRR), payback models, and sensitivity scenarios for capital investments.

Preparing and presenting briefing notes and presentations for senior leadership audiences.
-
Collaborating with Business Intelligence (BI)/Information Technology (IT) teams to enhance data quality, drive automation, and improve reporting tools.

What we are looking for:

Education
-
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business, or a related discipline.
-
The Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation is preferred; however, those actively working toward a CPA or Master of Business Administration (MBA) will also be considered.

Experience
-
6–9 years of progressive experience in financial planning, financial analysis, budgeting, or decision support within a complex, multi-stakeholder environment.
-
Experience with long-term planning, capital investment analysis, or business case development.
-
Experience working in a unionized, public sector, or highly regulated environment is considered an asset.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
-
Demonstrated knowledge of Power BI is essential.
-
Strong understanding of financial analysis techniques, business analysis, and planning methodologies.

Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think strategically and work independently.

Proven ability to analyze and interpret financial data, investigate variances, and assess future impacts.
-
Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills, with a track record of delivering clear, actionable insights.

Ability to communicate complex financial information effectively to senior leadership audiences.
-
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills required.

Knowledge of Oracle financial reporting systems preferred.

Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to balance competing priorities and deadlines in high-demand periods (e.g. planning cycles).

Security Clearance Eligibility Required

Reliability Status with Site Access Security Clearance (SASC), which has a minimum requirement of 3-5 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United States and/or the United Kingdom. CNL implements security screening in accordance with the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat's “Standard on Security Screening” and the “Policy on Government Security.”

This position is offered on a fully remote basis, allowing you to work from home anywhere in Canada. You’ll collaborate virtually with a dynamic team across CNL sites, helping to advance Canada’s clean energy and environmental goals from your home office.
