SCOPE
Reporting to the Manager, Graduate Admissions and CPA Program, the incumbent reviews and adjudicates graduate admissions applications, as well as gives effective and appropriate guidance to students in support of their application to the University. They act as a resource person for students, faculty and staff on matters relating to graduate admissions, according to the standards and procedures defined by the Faculty and the University. The incumbent may also be asked to contribute to other related tasks including, but not limited to, supporting recruitment activities and evaluating applications for graduate awards.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Review and adjudicate applications for graduate admissions, determine eligibility of applicants, authenticate documents and finalize admission files.
• Provide prompt and appropriate admission decisions to applicants as well as process admissions-related requests, such as application deferral requests
• Utilize the video interview platform to invite MBA applicants to complete the video interview. Assess and evaluate applicants based on interviews as part of the admission process.
• Provide information to current, former, and prospective students and other University stakeholders on University and Faculty policies, practices, and procedures as it relates to graduate admissions.
• Research educational credentials, systems, and schools world-wide and provide information to prospective students and other internal and external stakeholders where appropriate.
• Prepare statistical reports by collecting and analyzing admission and registration data related to graduate admissions and enrolment.
• Identify process and procedural challenges and contribute to finding efficiencies and improvements.
• Collaborate with the student recruitment team and participate in local recruitment activities and events.
• Maintain liaison with internal stakeholders (e.g. graduate programs and other service units) and external stakeholders (e.g., professional organizations).
• Represent JMSB on committees related to graduate admissions, as needed.
• Perform other related duties as required by the Manager.
QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s Degree in a field relevant to the primary responsibilities and two to four years of related work experience in an academic setting.
• Very good knowledge (Level 5) of spoken and written English and good knowledge (Level 4) of spoken and written French.
• Good knowledge (Intermediate level) of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Knowledge of Canadian and international educational systems.
• Experience in making effective decisions and dealing well with ambiguity.
• Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to deal effectively with students, faculty, staff, and the general public.
• Ability to work under pressure with strict deadlines and take initiatives.
• Ability to work outside normal working hours during peak periods.
• Aptitude to work in a service-oriented environment as both a member of a team and independently.
• Familiarity with educational systems, as well as knowledge of graduate admissions requirements, academic regulations, and policies and procedures is an asset.
• Knowledge of the PeopleSoft Campus Solutions environment is an asset.
• Approachability (is sensitive and patient with others) is an asset.
