Full job description

Cenairus designs and develops precast concrete forming systems and machinery. Our customers use our equipment to cast concrete products used in bridge infrastructure projects, sport stadiums and numerous unique projects requiring creative solutions to solve difficult problems.

This is a mechanically minded role; we are interested in candidates with an engineering degree; either P.Eng or EIT, or a CET. Our products and projects involve plate steel forming, hydraulic systems, some electrical control work, hydrostatic calculations, cable and winch designs and various machinery elements. We also work with high load designs over long distances; for example using large diameter steel round bars to resist 1000 tons over several hundred feet.

Experience is not as critical; we look for people who are a good fit for a small team, who can self manage and are generally fun to be around and have a very strong work ethic. Generally most have strong work ethics if they like what they do; candidates need to like designing and building things naturally, not just because they are trained as an engineer or technologist. We like to hear stories about the things people built, or dismantled, before they had to earn a living.

Flexible working arrangements; we are small team, typically a hybrid of time in the office/production facility paired with some work remote (from home) works well. Ability for occasional international travel required.

The role includes:

Whiteboarding; lots of it
Defining problems and developing conceptual solutions
CAD modelling and drafting
Processing standard design work orders to working on blank canvas designs
Issuing drawings to production and vendors
Developing BOM and procurement requests
Collaborating with various vendors
Collaborating and communicating with our production team; hosting design reviews, fielding questions about issues

This is a full-time Calgary based role with benefits after three months.

CAD modeling experience required, ideally Solidworks. Basic Word, Excel, PowerPoint skills.
