CEE Centre for Young Black Professionals is committed to cultivating a pool of young Black professionals who will positively impact the Canadian economy. Our mandate is workforce development for Black youth aged 18-29 years old who are furthest from the labour market. Through strategically curated programming, CEE is addressing widening labour gaps and creating viable pathways to employment for Black youth. Purpose
Reporting to the Executive Director, the Manager of Finance is responsible for leading CEE’s overall financial strategy, systems, governance support, and day‑to‑day financial operations. This role ensures strong financial stewardship, regulatory compliance, accurate reporting, and long‑term financial sustainability. The Manager of Finance is the staff lead to the Finance, Risk & Audit Committee and oversees financial policies, platforms, and finance staff.
Key Responsibilities:
Planning & Strategy
· Contribute to CEE’s internal organizational planning and strategy
· Lead annual budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning
· Provide strategic financial advice to leadership to support organizational sustainability
· Implement and oversee financial policies in accordance with ASNPO
· Act as staff lead to the Finance, Risk & Audit Committee, including preparation and presentation of reports
Financial Management & Reporting
· Oversee all day-to-day financial operations including payroll, invoicing, receivables, payables, and banking
· Ensure accuracy and integrity of internal bookkeeping and financial records
· Oversee audit firm relationship and execution of audit
· Prepare audit working papers, tax filings, insurance, statutory remittances, and financial risk management
· Prepare timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for the Board, funders, and external stakeholders
· Maintain clear documentation and audit trails for key finance processes (e.g., period‑end close checklists, reconciliations, journal entry support, approvals, and source documentation) to ensure transparency and audit readiness
· Produce reporting packages that support transparency and decision‑making, including clear variance explanations, documented assumptions, and consistent funder/program reporting tied back to the general ledger
· Lead financial modelling, cash flow analysis, and funding impact assessments
· Ensure compliance with accounting standards, funder requirements, and regulatory obligations
· Ensure compliance with all financial reporting requirements, including accurate period close, audit readiness, and timely regulatory and funder reporting
· Maintain and continuously improve internal controls to protect assets and ensure appropriate approvals, segregation of duties, and documentation
· Partner with IT and vendors to ensure finance systems meet organizational security requirements (e.g., role‑based access, least‑privilege, secure integrations, and data retention/privacy practices)
Financial Systems & Platforms
· Provide overall oversight and reconciliation between CEE’s financial platforms, including current tools and any future ERP environment (e.g., QuickBooks, AvidXchange, payroll systems, POES/TESS portals, reporting tools, and ERP solutions such as NetSuite or Sage Intacct)
· Ensure accurate use of financial platforms and data integrity across the organization
· Lead the selection, migration, and implementation of a new ERP system (e.g., NetSuite or Sage Intacct), including requirements gathering, vendor evaluation, project planning, data cleansing and conversion, configuration/testing (UAT), integrations, user training, change management, go‑live, and post‑implementation optimization
· Configure and maintain role‑based access and approval workflows in all finance systems (including the ERP) to support segregation of duties between the Manager of Finance and the Accounts Coordinator, and perform periodic user‑access reviews
Policies, Procedures & Team Oversight
· Lead the development, implementation, and review of financial policies, procedures, templates, and internal controls
· Create, maintain, and continuously improve a finance procedures manual (SOPs), including process maps, templates, and documentation standards; ensure version control and train staff on updates
· Lead and develop the finance team (e.g., Finance Coordinator and other roles as assigned), including hiring support, onboarding, training, performance support, workload planning, and cross‑training for business continuity
· Ensure strong financial controls, accountability, and segregation of duties
· Design and enforce segregation of duties between the Manager of Finance and the Accounts Coordinator, including clear separation of (a) transaction set‑up/processing vs. (b) review/approval and payment release; and ensuring independent review of bank reconciliations, journal entries, vendor/employee master data changes, and payroll submissions where applicable
· Establish and monitor period‑end close processes, service standards, and quality controls to ensure consistent, timely, and accurate outputs from the finance function

Qualifications & Core Competencies
Education and Experience
· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (Master’s an asset)
· Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation required
· Minimum 5 years of progressive senior financial management experience
· Experience in the not‑for‑profit sector preferred
Core Competencies Required
· Strong knowledge of non‑profit accounting principles and compliance
· Advanced proficiency with financial platforms and cloud-based ERPs (QuickBooks currently used; NetSuite and/or Sage Intacct experience considered a strong asset)
· Demonstrated experience implementing or significantly upgrading an ERP/financial system (requirements, data migration, testing, training, and change management)
· Strong understanding of internal controls, audit readiness, and compliance with financial reporting and regulatory requirements
· Security and privacy awareness in financial operations, including role‑based access, least‑privilege principles, secure handling of confidential data, and third‑party/vendor risk considerations
· Proven ability to lead, coach, and develop a high‑performing finance team and collaborate effectively across departments
· Excellent analytical, strategic thinking, and problem‑solving skills
· Highly process‑oriented with strong documentation discipline; able to design scalable workflows, maintain SOPs, and communicate financial results with transparency
· Strong communication skills, including Board‑level reporting
· High level of integrity, discretion, and confidentiality
· Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast‑paced environment

Salary Range: - $70,000 - $80,000
