PACT (Pearson Accelerator Construction Team) is a General Partnership of Alberici, Amico, Kenaidan, and Obayashi, supported by design partners Egis, Mott MacDonald, and Weston Williamson + Partners. Together, we are delivering Accelerator, a major program of Pearson LIFT (Long-term Investment in Facilities and Terminals), Toronto Pearson's infrastructure development plan. This multi-year program is designed to address immediate passenger growth demands while preparing Canada’s largest airport for the future of air travel—including critical upgrades to airfield and infrastructure, greenhouse gas reduction initiatives, modernization of Terminals 1 and 3, and the creation of a world-class passenger experience.
JOB SUMMARY
The Security Coordinator plays a critical support role within the Logistics & Security team, assisting with the planning, coordination, and implementation of security controls across PACT. This role focuses on day‑to‑day coordination, documentation, tracking, stakeholder interface, and site support, ensuring security plans are implemented effectively throughout all phases of construction. The Security Coordinator works closely with Security Managers, Logistics Managers, construction teams, subcontractors, GTAA stakeholders, and third‑party service providers to support safe, secure, and efficient movement of people, materials, and equipment within the live airfield and terminal environments.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support the development, distribution, and maintenance of security management plans and procedures for all construction projects.
- Assist with security planning related to construction phasing, temporary works, and evolving site conditions.
- Support access control processes for construction personnel, subcontractors, consultants, and visitors.
- Coordinate personnel and material screening processes, including verification of compliance with security procedures and documentation requirements.
- Support the administration and tracking of security systems, including access control platforms, badging systems, and security databases.
- Support security audits, inspections, and compliance reviews, including tracking of findings and closure of corrective actions.
- Coordinate security requirements in alignment with logistics planning, including staging areas, access routes, and construction phasing.
- Support identification, tracking, and mitigation of security risks through coordination with program risk registers.
- Support coordination of security incidents and emergency response activities, including breach, lockdown, and evacuation procedures when needed.
- Track and report on key security performance indicators, including access compliance, incident trends, and response metrics.
- Support compliance with airside security requirements, including escort controls, restricted area protocols, and FOD awareness.
- Coordinate security requirements and compliance for subcontractors and third-party vendors operating with PACT.
- Support delivery and tracking of security awareness training and onboarding requirements for site personnel.
- Maintain controlled documentation systems for security plans, procedures, and approvals in accordance with program governance requirements.
- Coordinate restricted area access, escort requirements, and compliance with airport security rules.
- Track and verify security documentation, onboarding requirements, and approvals.
- Ensure adherence to PACT, GTAA, and regulatory security standards.
- Conduct site visits to observe security operations and verify controls are functioning as intended.
- Identify security gaps or access issues and escalate to the Security Manager.
- Support implementation of corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Act as a point of contact for on‑site security issues when delegated.
- Maintain accurate records including access logs and control matrices, incident and issue tracking logs, and security procedures and plans.
- Assist with incident documentation, investigations, and follow‑up actions.
- Assist with the preparation of reports, presentations, and data summaries for internal stakeholders.
- Act as a liaison between logistics/security teams, construction managers, subcontractors, airport authorities, and external stakeholders.
- Capture lessons learned and support continuous improvement of security processes across the program.
- Support meetings related to security planning, site access, and operational coordination.
- Support with other duties as required.
WORKING CONDITIONS
The position will be based at our office in Mississauga, Ontario, with visits to the Airport site as required. Your work schedule will be Monday to Friday during regular office or site hours. At times, operational needs may require work outside these hours, with reasonable notice provided. All schedule or on‑call adjustments will comply with applicable employment standards legislation. It is mandatory for all employees to complete a Criminal Background check and successfully attain a Restricted Access Identity Card (RAIC) upon joining the company.
DESIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, COMPETENCIES
- Diploma or degree in Construction Management, Security Management, Law Enforcement, Project Management, or related field.
- Experience supporting security operations, access control, or risk management in regulated or operational environments.
- Working knowledge of personnel, material, and vehicle screening processes within controlled or restricted environments.
- Familiarity with airport environments, access control systems, or restricted-area operations is an asset.
- Experience with access control systems, badging platforms, and digital security tracking tools.
- Understanding of security compliance, audits, inspections, and regulatory requirements in operational environments.
- Basic knowledge of risk management principles, including risk identification, mitigation, and incident reporting.
- Knowledge of safety, security, or compliance processes in operational environments is preferred.
- Experience with document control systems, reporting tools, and data tracking (Excel, dashboards, etc.).
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced construction setting.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Familiarity with GTAA or other major airport procedures is considered an asset.
- Valid driver’s license and eligibility for RAIC clearance required, and willing to have AVOP D/A.
