Options Community Services is a non-profit organization dedicated to delivering social services across the Southern Fraser region (Surrey, Delta, White Rock and Langley) from early childhood to seniors. Our comprehensive range of programs and services relies on collaborative relationships with individuals, businesses, community groups and government bodies to create focused, effective and responsive resources for the community.

Position Overview

Are you passionate about supporting youth in their journey to independence? Join our Youth Services Program as a Youth Outreach Worker, helping youth (ages 16-19) connected with the Ministry of Children and Family Development build skills for success in areas like health, employment, and education. In this role, you’ll work one-on-one with youth to develop goal-driven plans, assist with problem-solving, connect them to community resources, and advocate when needed. Make a meaningful difference in the lives of young people – apply today!

Reporting to the Program Manager, our selected candidate will support youth in goal setting, skill development, and problem-solving to reduce crisis situations. Responsibilities include building rapport, assessing needs, providing life skills instruction, and making appropriate referrals to community resources. The worker will liaise with professionals and agencies, maintain documentation, and contribute to public relations and program development. The role also involves identifying positive activities to engage youth, advocating and mentoring, and linking youth with ongoing support. The position requires teamwork, adherence to directives, and fostering a positive work environment.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in a related field, with experience working with youth facing emotional, social, and behavioral challenges. Relevant experience will also be considered. Required skills include a current Basic First Aid certificate, strong communication skills (written, verbal, and interpersonal), and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision. The candidate should possess good organizational and time management skills, cultural sensitivity, be effective in a team environment, and have a commitment to problem-solving and confidentiality. A valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle are required.

This role requires the incumbent to undergo a Police Information Check (PIC), and a Vulnerable Sector Check by the Ministry of Justice.
