Location: Innisfail, Alberta Schedule: Monday to Friday 8:00 am to 4:30 pm

Key Responsibilities:

Source suppliers and obtain quotations for goods and services required by sales in the bidding process.
Plan for raw components such as steel, flanges, fittings, etc.
Issue requests for quotes/proposals (RFQ/RFP) and select the best source consistent with cost, quality, and delivery requirements.
Negotiate and manage long-term pricing agreements on critical commodities.
Order material as per the purchasing queue and approved requisitions.
Act as a liaison between suppliers and departments involved to resolve procurement-related problems.
Monitor supplier performance by ensuring that the product is delivered as scheduled and meets specifications; maintain appropriate files and records of meetings with suppliers to ensure company requirements and that suppliers are aware of their performance.
Order major materials per engineering and project management prior to the completion of the BOM (bill of materials).
Continually assess market conditions that may affect procurement and recommend procurement and supply chain management strategies.
Assist internal and external customers by interpreting laws, policies, codes, and regulations pertaining to purchasing; answer inquiries both orally and in writing concerning purchasing operations.
Organize shipments of vessels to and from post-weld heat treatment.
Create and complete purchase orders for x-ray, sub-contractors, and rental equipment as required.
Create part numbers in ERP for the design department.
Source material for parts and maintenance.
Order welding and shop consumables.
Order safety supplies.
Enter standard costs into item files from zero standard cost items on order report.
Reconcile discrepancies between receiving, purchasing, and invoicing.
Maintain/update outstanding purchase orders in M2M and with vendors.
Maintain and constantly assess current and potential credible vendors.
Generate and submit purchase orders in accordance with company policies and procedures.
Maintain consumable request forms, ensuring they are user-friendly and reflect the correct items being used.
Check and clean up item master descriptions and memos to maintain consistency.

Qualifications/Requirements:

Previous experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred
3+ years of related procurement experience, including purchasing, inventory control, supply management, supplier relationships, basic cost accounting, and tracking budget expenses
Experience in creating and building strong relationships with vendors
Experience with M2M or equivalent ERP system is an asset
Strong technical skills to navigate and utilize web-based platforms and the Microsoft Office suite, including Microsoft Teams
Working knowledge of the legal aspects of procurement and contract law
Knowledge of import freight movement
Experience in vendor negotiation with a desire to find high-quality products at the best possible cost
Experience working with a large group of people in a manufacturing environment
Skilled in ensuring procured goods meet required standards and specifications through active quality control in procurement.
