We are looking for a Plant General Manager who is responsible for leading all Operations and Maintenance (O&M) activities at the Cavalier Energy Centre, Taber Wind Farm, and Kettles Hill Wind Farm. This role ensures safe, reliable, and cost-effective operations aligned with ENMAX Energy Corporation (EEC) strategy and all regulatory, environmental, and contractual requirements.
Major Responsibilities:
Ensure all facility objectives and personnel actions are in alignment with ENMAX Energy’s Generation expectations. Direct and manage facility staff, contractors, and service providers and ensure facility personnel comply with all applicable laws, regulations, standards, and procedures.
Administer the facilities Safety & Environment, Emergency Response, O&M, Administrative, Training, Engineering, and Chemistry programs to ensure the delivery of safe, efficient, and reliable operation of the facilities. Ensure periodic reviews of facility standards and procedures are completed to ensure they reflect current facility operating and maintenance requirements.
Implement training and qualification programs to ensure that facility procedures are understood and adhered to by all facility personnel. Verify that the certification status of affected operation and maintenance personnel is maintained current.
Develop, implement, and create accountability processes and required procedures to achieve the requirements identified in facility commercial agreements, ENMAX/Owner agreements, and interface with NAES worker performance standards.
Manage and oversee the performance of all facility dispatch instructions and ensure compliance with ARS, AESO rules and AUC regulations.
Direct and/or oversee the preparation of required facility reporting, budgets, AFE’s, business cases, incident investigations, environment reporting, etc.
Conduct and manage effective assessment programs using both internal and external resources to evaluate facility and program compliance with all appropriate standards, regulations, policies, and procedures.
Direct the recruitment, screening and hiring of new or replacement ENMAX personnel for the facility as required. Provide an environment that ensure that the morale and motivation of plant personnel is always maintained at a high level.
Accountable for direction and/or oversight of the preparation, planning, and execution of all planned and unplanned facility maintenance outages.
Education Required:
Engineering degree or Management degree in an engineering-related discipline or First-Class Power Engineer certificate.
Certification as a Maintenance Management Professional (MMP), Certification as a Maintenance and Reliability Professional; Certification as a Project Management Professional is preferred.
Commitment to obtain certifications within a defined timeframe if not already held.
Qualifications & Experience:
15+ years of experience in power plant operations and maintenance supervisory roles.
10+ years of experience in leading specialized technical teams and managing process and personal behavioral changes (change management).
Experience in the Alberta market is considered an asset
Thorough understanding of power generation equipment and processes, transmission and/or instrumentation and control systems including design principles and operational requirements
Experience with contract management, project delivery, and O&M delivery models (e.g., LTSA, contract operations, self-perform).
Competencies:

Excellent stakeholder and relationship-building capabilities.
Effective communicator with the ability to present technical and non-technical information clearly.
Proven experience as a Project Manager on major technical projects, including the ability to write and clearly present technical and non-technical information to a variety of audiences
Documented success at managing processes through influence required
Proven ability to influence, manage change, and drive cross-functional outcomes.
Skilled in strategy execution, governance, performance management, and continuous improvement.

Location: This role will be part of our hybrid work model that includes Core Days in office (Tuesdays, Wednesday, Thursdays), and more time to focus on Mondays and Fridays, either in the office or at home. The office workspace is located at the Cavalier Energy Centre - 234015 Township Rd 240, Strathmore, AB.
