Camp Structure:
Camps run in full-week blocks. Compensation is provided based on the full camp week/salary structure.

Position Overview
Roots & Tales Clinic is seeking a full-time Computer Coding & LEGO Robotics Camp Instructor to lead an engaging, hands-on summer camp program focused on coding, robotics, creativity, teamwork, and STEM learning.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with children, has an interest in technology and innovation, and can create a fun, structured, inclusive, and supportive learning environment. The instructor will help campers build confidence, problem-solving skills, creativity, and social engagement through coding and LEGO robotics activities.
This full-day camp introduces campers to essential STEM skills through interactive and age-appropriate coding and robotics activities. Campers will participate in coding projects using platforms such as Scratch to create video games, animations, and interactive stories. They will also design, build, and program LEGO robots to complete structured challenges.
The program combines technical learning with creativity, teamwork, emotional regulation, and confidence-building in a child-centred camp setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead coding and LEGO robotics camp sessions in a safe, engaging, and age-appropriate environment
- Teach foundational coding concepts using platforms such as Scratch
- Support campers in creating video games, animations, and interactive stories
- Guide campers in designing, building, and programming LEGO robots through hands-on projects and challenges
- Encourage creativity, teamwork, problem-solving, communication, and confidence
- Adapt instruction to support different ages, abilities, learning styles, and developmental needs
- Provide a structured, supportive, and inclusive learning environment for children
- Incorporate snack breaks and physical activity into the camp day as required
- Supervise campers during activities, transitions, breaks, and group programming
- Support positive behaviour, emotional regulation, and respectful peer interaction
- Assist with daily setup, cleanup, material preparation, and equipment organization
- Build positive relationships with campers, families, clinic staff, and team members
- Follow Roots & Tales Clinic’s safety procedures, child supervision standards, and program expectations
- Support campers in completing projects and developing a portfolio of work by the end of the program
- Communicate any concerns regarding camper safety, behaviour, or participation to the appropriate supervisor
Qualifications
- Experience working with children in camps, education, recreation, tutoring, therapy-support settings, or youth programs
- Interest in coding, robotics, STEM education, technology, or hands-on learning
- Comfortable teaching beginner-level coding and LEGO robotics activities
- Strong communication, leadership, organization, and teamwork skills
- Patient, energetic, creative, and confident leading groups of children
- Ability to support children with different learning styles and needs
- Ability to create a structured, engaging, and positive learning environment
- Background in education, computer science, engineering, robotics, recreation, child development, psychology, or a related field is an asset
- Experience supporting children with ADHD, autism, anxiety, learning differences, or emotional regulation needs is an asset
- First Aid/CPR certification and Vulnerable Sector Check, or willingness to obtain them, is preferred

Pay: $25.00-$35.00 per hour
