Full job description

About the Company:

We are a well-established ICI (Industrial, Commercial, Institutional) construction company based in Pickering, Ontario, with projects across the Greater Toronto Area. Our team takes pride in delivering quality construction solutions and maintaining a strong, collaborative workplace culture.

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Estimator to support the estimating and pre-construction team in preparing accurate cost estimates and bid submissions for construction projects. The ideal candidate is organized, eager to learn, and capable of working in a fast-paced environment while collaborating with project managers, subcontractors, suppliers, and clients.

Key Responsibilities

Assist in preparing quantity take-offs and cost estimates for construction projects
Review drawings, specifications, and tender documents
Solicit and analyze subcontractor and supplier quotations
Support the preparation of bid packages and tender submissions
Maintain estimating databases, pricing records, and project documentation
Coordinate with project managers and site teams during pre-construction planning
Attend site visits, pre-bid meetings, and project handovers as required
Help identify cost-saving opportunities and value engineering solutions
Ensure estimates are completed accurately and within submission deadlines
Perform administrative and reporting duties related to estimating activities

Qualifications

Diploma or degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or a related field
1–2 years of estimating or construction-related experience preferred
Strong understanding of construction drawings and specifications
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
Experience with estimating software is considered an asset
Excellent analytical, mathematical, and organizational skills
Strong verbal and written communication abilities
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment
Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to project sites if required

Preferred Skills

Knowledge of commercial, institutional, or industrial construction projects
Familiarity with Ontario building codes and construction practices
Strong attention to detail and time management skills
Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment
