ABOUT US

Thorpe Industries is a proud Saskatchewan company and is now one of Western Canada’s leading building envelope contractors, working on major commercial, institutional and industrial projects. Our team takes pride in strong relationships, solid craftsmanship and doing the job right the first time. As we continue to grow, we are looking for talented people to join our team.

THE ROLE

The purpose of the Project Manager is to lead assigned construction projects from award to closeout with full accountability for profitability, schedule performance, risk management, and client experience. Ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and in alignment with Thorpe’s financial targets, operational standards, and quality expectations.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

● Set up and maintain clean, organized project files from project handoff to closeout

● Take full ownership of project financial performance and gross margin

● Build and manage project schedules and manpower plans

● Review and approve major procurement decisions and subcontractors

● Monitor budgets, forecasts and cost-to-complete regularly

● Identify risks early and take action before they become problems

● Lead client meetings and act as the main point of contact

● Coordinate with Superintendent and Project Coordinator to keep alignment

● Ensure billing is accurate, timely and supported with proper documentation

WHAT YOU NEED

EDUCATION

● Diploma or degree in Construction Management, Engineering Technology, Business, or related field

● Formal project management training is an asset

● Ongoing professional development in commercial construction

EXPERIENCE

● 5+ years commercial construction experience

● Experience managing budgets and cost control

● Experience reading drawings and specifications

● Experience managing subcontractors

● Experience with ERP or construction management software

● Experience leading client meetings

● Experience with contract documents and change management

COMPETENCIES

● Financial discipline: Maintains a strong understanding of project financials and consistently monitors performance against budget.

● Strategic thinking: Plans proactively, anticipating challenges and aligning decisions with long-term project outcomes.

● Risk awareness: Identifies potential risks early and takes appropriate action to mitigate impact.

● Confident decision-making: Makes timely, well-informed decisions, even in high-pressure situations.

● Negotiation skills: Effectively negotiates to protect project scope, budget and overall profitability.

● Clear communication: Ensures all stakeholders are consistently informed and aligned through clear, timely communication.

● Accountability: Takes full ownership of project outcomes and follows through on commitments.
