UCSH is looking for a full time Automatic Door Technician (Commercial Door & Electronic Hardware) position. This position requires to travel to different job sites in Ottawa.

WHAT’S THE JOB ABOUT?

Reporting to the Hardware Consultant, the Automatic Door Technician (Commercial Door & Electronic Hardware) is responsible to install, integrate and service automatic door operators and electrified door hardware systems. The ideal candidate is someone who enjoy problem-solving and has a strong background in electronic systems related to access control and building security.

Some of the work you will do, but not limited to:

Install, configure, and test automatic door operators (ADO) and related components (push plates, sensors, etc.)
Integrate electrified door hardware (electric strikes, magnetic locks, exit devices, power supplies, etc.) with access control systems.
Perform wiring, terminations, and troubleshooting of low-voltage electrical systems.
Read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and wiring diagrams to ensure proper installation.
Conduct site surveys to assess installation requirements and prepare accurate documentation.
Collaborate with project managers, contractors, and clients to ensure seamless integration with building systems.
Maintain detail service reports, logs and documentation for each job.
Provide recommendations for system upgrades, replacements, and maintenance plans.
Provide maintenance and repair services, including diagnostics and replacement of faulty components.
Ensure compliance with safety standards, building codes, and manufacturer specifications.
Respond to emergency service calls as needed.
Well adapted to technologically included products.
Train junior technicians and provide technical guidance as needed.
Other duties as assigned

WE ARE LOOKING FOR SOMEONE LIKE YOU WHO HAS:

Diploma or certification in Electronics, Electrical Engineering Technology, or related field.
Certificate of AAADM is a strong asset.
Minimum 5 years of experience in automatic door installation and service.
Extensive experience with Automatic Doors, Access Control Systems, and Sensor Technologies (Safety, Motion, and Activation sensors).
Knowledgeable in RTLS (Real-Time Location Systems) and Anti-ligature pressure sensors / Door alarm systems.
Experience in leading complex installations and large scale service projects.
Strong knowledge of sliding, swinging, and commercial entrance systems.
Proficiency with electrical systems, low-voltage wiring, sensors, and control modules (Relays)
Ability to read and interpret Wiring Diagrams/Schematic and technical documents.
Strong troubleshooting, communication, and leadership skills.
Ability to lift heavy components and work in various site conditions.
Familiarity of fire safety codes and building codes.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Strong communication skills for client interaction and team collaboration.
Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
Willingness to travel to job sites.
