Senior/Principal Gameplay Programmer (3Cs) | Montreal (Hybrid or Remote options | Quebec-based) | AAA Gaming | UE 5

The Company

They are an established game development studio made up of experienced industry professionals. Their current focus is on building a large-scale, narrative-driven action-adventure RPG set in a richly imagined medieval fantasy universe. The team is dedicated to delivering high-quality, immersive gameplay experiences while fostering a collaborative environment that values creativity, mutual respect, and a shared passion for making great games.

The Role

They are seeking a Senior Gameplay Programmer with deep expertise in 3C systems—character, controls, and camera. In this position, the successful candidate will take ownership of core gameplay functionality, ensuring that player movement, responsiveness, and camera behavior feel intuitive and polished. Working alongside leadership and cross-functional teams, they will help translate creative vision into engaging, high-performing gameplay systems.

The Responsibilities:

Architect and develop systems governing character movement, input handling, and camera functionality
Partner closely with design and animation teams to refine gameplay feel and responsiveness
Rapidly prototype and iterate on new gameplay features and mechanics
Collaborate across disciplines to integrate gameplay elements seamlessly into the overall experience
Contribute to the evolution and maintenance of shared code frameworks and tools
Implement gameplay systems with clear structure, maintainability, and supporting documentation
Identify and address performance challenges to ensure smooth and scalable gameplay

The Requirements:

Extensive experience (8+ years) in gameplay programming, with a focus on 3C systems
Contribution to at least one shipped AAA title on PC or console platforms
Strong grasp of modern game development workflows and technical pipelines
Advanced proficiency in C++, 3D math, and hands-on experience with Unreal Engine 5
Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary teams
Demonstrated track record of delivering high-quality gameplay systems
Passion for interactive entertainment and crafting engaging player experiences
Self-sufficient and solution-oriented, with the ability to navigate technical limitations efficiently
