Full job description

Department Production

Reports to Supervisor

Job Summary The General Labourer is responsible for assisting in different tasks as required in the production/finishing processes.

Job Responsibilities

Transport raw materials, castings and equipment throughout plant manually or using powered equipment
Verify weight of
materials and products
Pick up castings from the conveyors and place them into buggies
Manually load/unload Shotblaster machines
Core knockout
Operate Pressure Tester unit
Operate Punch press machine
Sort, pack, crate and package castings
Assist machine operators and other workers when required
Ensure all Safety Rules and Regulations are followed at all times
Use utmost discretion in dealing with company and customers' confidential data
Meet production standards as specified in job order and/or ISO documents
Responsible for cleaning equipment and work station on a daily basis
Operate equipment in a safe manner, including to immediately report any equipment malfunctions
May perform other tasks as deemed appropriate

Safety Equipment Requirement

The use of appropriate safety equipment as described below is a condition of employment and not one of choice. Safety equipment that must be worn while performing job responsibilities are as follow:

Face shield

Helmet

Gloves

Safety boots

Ear plugs

Respirator as required

Safety glasses

Education and Skill Requirement

Understand English - oral, written and reading, and ability to communicate clearly and concisely
Ability to follow appropriate departmental work instructions, including health and safety rules and procedures
Able to lift 46 lbs. and over
Overhead Crane Operator certified, or willing to be trained
3 years experience operating forklift and a valid licence
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Good co-ordination and manual dexterity
Excellent attention to detail with ability to multi-task and highly organized
Ability to handle a heavy workload and work effectively with interruptions and changing priorities
Capable of standing for long periods of time
