Job Title: 421A Heavy Duty Equipment Field Service Technician

Salary: $40 – $55 per hour (Commensurate with experience)

Job Summary

As a Field Service Technician, you will operate out of our Concord yard to dispatch directly to various active project environments. You will diagnose, overhaul, and repair major mechanical, hydraulic, complex electrical, and emission control systems on heavy civil earthmovers, high-reach demolition processors, and heavy concrete forming systems. This role requires an expert-level understanding of automotive electronics, manufacturer diagnostic software, and advanced emission systems.

Core Responsibilities

Advanced Electrical Diagnostics: Troubleshoot, trace, and repair intricate 12V/24V electrical networks, multiplex wiring wiring systems, CAN-bus communications, controllers, sensors, and electronic control modules (ECMs).
Emissions Troubleshooting: Diagnose and repair modern Tier 4 Final and Stage V emission control systems, including Diesel Particulate Filters (DPF), Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR/DEF), and Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) systems.
Software-Driven Diagnostics: Utilize leading OEM software (e.g., CAT Electronic Technician, Komatsu LinkOne/Komtrax, Cummins Insite, John Deere Service Advisor) to pull codes, run calibrations, monitor live parameters, and flash modules in the field.
Field Diagnostics & Repair: Travel to excavation, high-reach demolition, and concrete forming sites to resolve structural, mechanical, powertrain, and electronic malfunctions.
Demolition Fleet Maintenance: Service and repair heavy demolition machinery, including high-reach excavators, shears, pulverizers, hydraulic breakers, and dust-suppression systems.
Forming & Concrete Equipment Service: Diagnose and repair specialized concrete forming machinery, material handlers, heavy shoring components, and hydraulic jacks.
Preventative Maintenance: Conduct routine fleet servicing, structural integrity checks, and component lubrication according to rigid manufacturer specifications.
Rigid Safety Compliance: Strictly adhere to the Manufacturer's Operation and Maintenance Manuals during major component tear-downs (e.g., high-reach booms, counterweights, heavy attachments) to ensure zero-harm workplace safety.
Welding & Fabrication: Complete minor structural modifications and structural component welding as required in the field.

Qualifications & Requirements

Licensing: Valid Ontario 421A Heavy Duty Equipment Technician Certificate of Qualification (Journeyperson/Red Seal preferred).
Electrical Expertise: Advanced, demonstrable proficiency in heavy equipment auto-electrical diagnostics, reading schematics, and troubleshooting complex electrical failures.
Software Proficiency: Expert command of all leading brand diagnostic software platforms and tooling.
Emission Control Systems: Proven experience troubleshooting and servicing Tier 4 Final emissions.
Experience: Minimum 3–5 years of field service experience working with heavy civil dirt-moving, specialized demolition attachments, or heavy forming equipment.
Driver's License: Clean, valid Ontario Class G driver's license (AZ or DZ license is a major asset).
Tools: Must possess a complete set of personal mechanic hand tools, digital multimeters, and standard power tools up to field service requirements.
Physical Fitness: Capability to lift up to 50 lbs, work in tight prone positions beneath heavy machinery, and adapt to harsh outdoor weather conditions.
