Internal Auditor

Location: Mississauga, ON (Near Pearson Airport)
Compensation: $80,000 - $90,000 + Benefits
Work Arrangement: Fully onsite during probation, transitioning to 1 day remote per week
Reports To: Vice President, Finance

About the Opportunity

Our client is seeking an Internal Auditor to join their growing finance team in a newly created role within the Real Estate industry. Reporting directly to the Vice President of Finance, this position will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and consistency of financial reporting across multiple business entities.

This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented accounting professional who enjoys identifying risks, strengthening financial controls, and driving process improvements. The successful candidate will have significant autonomy, exposure to senior leadership, and the opportunity to make a meaningful impact within a collaborative and supportive environment.

What You'll Be Doing

Review monthly and annual financial statements for accuracy, completeness, and compliance.
Analyze financial reporting packages, account reconciliations, supporting schedules, and balance sheet accounts.
Investigate unusual variances, discrepancies, and reporting inconsistencies across multiple entities.
Act as the final quality assurance checkpoint before financial reports are issued.
Ensure consistency in accounting practices, reporting standards, and financial controls.
Partner with Property Accountants, Accounting Leadership, and operational teams to resolve issues and improve reporting quality.
Develop and enhance internal controls, review procedures, and standardized accounting processes.
Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, accuracy, and reporting timelines.
Prepare reports and recommendations for senior leadership regarding financial risks, trends, and process improvements.
Support audit requirements and ensure compliance with corporate and regulatory reporting standards.

Qualifications

Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
CPA designation completed or in progress is considered a strong asset.
5–8 years of experience in accounting, audit, financial reporting, or a related function.
Strong understanding of financial statements, reconciliations, and internal controls.
Experience within Property Management, Real Estate, or a related industry is highly preferred.
Experience with Yardi is considered an asset.
Advanced Excel and analytical skills.
