Job Description
The Conveyor Technician installs, maintains, and performs minor refurbishment on conveyor systems used for parcel distribution and sorting. This role focuses on keeping conveyor lines operating smoothly by troubleshooting mechanical issues and clearing system jams, often working at heights to access equipment safely and efficiently.
Responsibilities

Install, maintain, and perform minor refurbishment on conveyor systems used for parcel distribution and sorting.

Troubleshoot conveyor system issues, including identifying and clearing jams to keep operations running smoothly.

Inspect conveyors and related material handling equipment to detect wear, damage, or potential failures and take corrective action.

Use hand and power tools safely and effectively to perform mechanical maintenance tasks on conveyor components.

Operate scissor lifts and forklifts as needed to access elevated or hard-to-reach areas of the conveyor system.

Perform basic welding tasks as required for minor repairs or refurbishment of conveyor structures and components.

Work at heights to reach elevated conveyors and address jams or maintenance issues in a safe and controlled manner.

Handle and lift boxes weighing up to 75 lbs from time to time as part of maintenance and troubleshooting activities.

Follow all safety procedures, including proper use of personal protective equipment and adherence to site safety protocols.

Collaborate with other technicians to coordinate shift coverage and ensure continuous support for conveyor operations.

Contact the technical support hotline when necessary and work with on-call support teams to resolve breakdowns and complex issues.

Participate in training sessions, including overnight training schedules, to learn site-specific systems and procedures.
Essential Skills-
Mechanical maintenance experience with the ability to perform minor refurbishment, installation, and maintenance of conveyor systems.

Hands-on experience or familiarity with parcel sorting, conveyors, extenders, or other material handling systems.

Basic proficiency with hand and power tools for mechanical repair and maintenance tasks.

Ability to work comfortably and safely at heights to access and service elevated conveyor equipment.

Capability to troubleshoot conveyor system issues, including identifying and resolving jams.

Working at Heights certification.

Ability to operate a scissor lift.

Capability to lift boxes up to 75 lbs as needed.

Willingness and ability to work overnight and early morning shifts according to a rotating schedule.
Additional Skills & Qualifications-
Experience operating a forklift in an industrial or warehouse environment.

Work Environment
The role is based in a parcel sorting center that receives large orders throughout the night, with periods that are generally quiet and calm when volume is lower. The standard shift pattern involves four 10-hour shifts from approximately 2:00 a.m. (midnight) to 12:00 p.m., with coverage organized across three technicians and Saturday as a day off. Training may initially run from 11:30 p.m. to 9:30 a.m. The schedule offers flexibility, allowing technicians to adjust or swap allotted times by mutual agreement. You work with conveyor systems, parcel handling equipment, hand and power tools, scissor lifts, forklifts, and welding equipment as needed. Personal protective equipment is required, including steel-toed boots, in line with industrial safety standards. You also have access to a technical support hotline and an on-call support team to assist with breakdowns and complex issues, ensuring you work in a supported and safety-focused environment.
