Position Title: Transport Refrigeration (Reefer) Mechanic

Location: Surrey, BC

Full/Part Time: Full Time

Status: Permanent Position

Work Schedule: Monday to Friday; 8:00AM to 4:30 PM

For over 50 years ColdFront has been at the leading edge of climate control products and service for transportation and industry. A recent acquisition has resulted in ColdFront not only doubling in size but also extending our scope across Western Canada.

What is the Role?

The Transport Refrigeration (Reefer) Mechanic role is located at our Surrey office (Port Kells, BC) and reports directly to the Shop Charge Hand. The Transport Refrigeration (Reefer) technician performs technical tasks to aid in the assembly, installation, operation, maintenance and repair of variable speed and diesel driven cooling/heating systems, components and mechanical equipment on trucks, trailers and intermodal containers.

Responsibilities of this position include:

The Transport Refrigeration Technician will maintain and repair truck and trailer reefer units
Main duties will be to troubleshoot, diagnosis, and repair components on transport refrigeration units
Conduct quality preventative maintenance responsibilities
Ensure work is completed to standard
Other shop duties as assigned

Required Education, Skills and Qualifications

Mechanical Education/Training with a recognized Post-Secondary Trade Institution
Work effectively as both a team player and an individual contributor
Excellent communication skills; listening, written and oral
Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time effectively
Proficiency with all tools of the mechanical trades
Previous experience with Reefer and A/C units (Carrier – Transicold and Thermo King reefers and APU’s, Webasto & Proheat heaters) in the transportation industry
Previous experience working on refrigerated and heated trailers would be an asset
Ability to read wiring diagrams and diagnose electrical systems would be an asset
Technical and mechanical aptitude
