Title and Authority

Job Title : Shipper/Receiver

Authority: This role reports to the Parts Manager. This role has no supervisory or managerial authority and no direct reports.

General Description of the Role

The Shipper/Receiver is responsible for processing and packaging items for shipment and receiving incoming equipment and parts. Shipper/Receivers assist with loading and unloading items from the trucks, checking inventory receipts, inspecting the quality and quantity of the items, preparing shipping documents, and ensuring the cleanliness and orderliness of storage areas.

Role Accountabilities

Responsible for accuracy of shipping documents and verifying receiving receipts with open orders.
Prepares records of shipments and bills of lading and tickets for truck and other carriers.
Prepares records of receipt of incoming material and equipment and posts to open orders of suppliers.

Specific Tasks

Prepares bills of lading or tickets for each shipment and checks and records all items loaded for shipment.
Posts shipments to customer orders and calculates balance yet to be shipped. Upon completion of shipment, closes out orders and forwards document to production planning and accounting departments.
Notifies supervisor or planning department when major discrepancies occur, over-shipments or substitutions have been made.
Maintains other shipping records such as goods returned, returnable pallets, dunnage, etc.
On received goods, checks and counts all items unloaded from railroad cars, trucks, or trailers. Checks suppliers' count and reports discrepancies to carrier and to purchasing office.
Collects information for damage claims on in-transit damage.
May move materials on shipping dock with hand truck.
Uphold a safe and clean work environment in accordance with company standards by sweeping, removing snow, clearing garbage and debris, and maintaining the general upkeep of our shop and yard.
On off-shifts may load trucks or sea containers using a forklift truck.
Completing cycle counting and annual inventory.
Other duties as assigned.

Skills and Experience

Proficient in writing, reading and communicating in English.
Able to work effectively and productively without close supervision.
Attentive to details and you produce accurate work.
Punctual and reliable.
A high school diploma or equivalent.
1-2 years’ shipping/receiving experience, ideally in a manufacturing environment.
Clerical abilities.
Flexibility and adaptability to being a team player who is service oriented.
A valid forklift licence or previous experience operating a forklift.
Post-secondary education.
Worked in a manufacturing industry.

Pay: $16.53-$24.64 per hour
