Position Overview:
The role of the Invigilator is to monitor administration of language assessments to ensure that all testing and confidentiality guidelines are followed and that test takers are provided with testing environment that would enable them to perform to the best of their abilities.
Applicants must be legally authorized to work in Canada to be considered for this position.
This position is based in-office and may require availability for evening and/or weekend shifts depending on assessment schedules and operational needs.

Note: This is a temporary position ending on July 15, 2027.

Key Responsibilities:

Ensure all testing materials, equipment, and computer systems are prepared and functioning prior to assessment sessions (paper-based and computerized tests)
Administer and distribute Reading and/or Writing tests in both paper-based and computer-based formats
Monitor test sessions and accurately record start and finish times
Assign clients to language assessors for Listening/Speaking test portion
Provide standardized instructions to clients in accordance with established training and testing protocols
Support client intake and data collection processes as required
Assist and implement online invigilation
Assist with the general task work necessary to the smooth functioning of the Centre, including assisting other staff in their duties when required
Interact with clients demonstrating tact, diplomacy, respect and neutrality
Perform general office duties, including computer applications, typing, filing, photocopying, faxing, and record keeping
Assist with the ordering and maintenance of office supplies, brochures and pamphlets
Support front desk operations, including answering and transferring calls, booking appointments, completing daily appointment confirmations and verifications
Assist language assessor scheduling and related activities
Other duties as assigned

Qualifications and skills:
Education

Certificate in Office Administration/Clerical. A combination of education and relevant experience will be considered

Experience

Excellent time management, multitasking and problem solving
Excellent computer, data entry and typing skills
Excellent customer service skills
General understanding of second language acquisition and test-taking techniques
Familiarity with Canadian Language Benchmarks
Excellent command of English
Office and filing experience

Attributes and Core Competencies

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
Excellent work ethics
Ability to work alone and as a part of a team
Cross-cultural awareness and sensitivity, with prior experience working across a variety of cultural and language groups
